new 30 min PR and finally broke 8k!

this actually started as a 30r22, because I wasn't feeling it this morning, but the first 10 mins at r22 felt pretty strong and I decided to up the rate and see what I had in the tank. I took my foot off the gas a little for 10 mins after half way to ensure I could finish the 30 and then started accelerating with 5 mins left and had to average 1.45 for the final 90 seconds to get under the target. I'm sure there's still a little more with a more consistent pace and some more mental strength, but I'm really happy to have broken this barrier. I've cut down on the sprint intervals and been doing more longer rows the last 6 weeks and it appears to have paid dividends. I'd like to have another crack at a 5k before the end of the month if I can squeeze one in, albeit I'm travelling with work next week so it may be tough.

Time Meters Pace Watts Cal/Hr S/M
30:00.0 8,008m 1:52.3 247 1148 24

6:00.0 1,592m 1:53.0 242 1133 22
12:00.0 1,608m 1:51.9 250 1158 23
18:00.0 1,583m 1:53.7 238 1119 25

30:00.0 1,639m 1:49.8 264 1209 28
Excellent! The 8k milestone is big one as you do more longer rows. The strong finish shows you still had a bit in the tank.

thank you everyone else for the congratulations.

as ever with milestones, it's already 'on to the next one'. I'm hoping to squeeze in another 5k tt before the end of June to improve on my CTC and then I'm in two minds as to whether to continue on the longer stuff for a few more months or spend July doing more speed work to see what I've got in the 2k.

I am not sure if my 10k PB reflects my current fitness level after my health issues. Only looking at the stats in my signature one could think it is no problem, but I feel not ready for it 😏

The 8k+ milestone is definitely there for you, but only when you're recovered. Good to see you're aware of that and not getting carried away.

This was something I have learned past few years. With increasing age I realized that I cannot overdrive my body each time and need more recovery.
I do hard work often (perhaps to often, definitely more often than anyone else I know in my age group), but I learned to listen to my body a bit more.
After back from vacation I hope for excellent recovery and will give some TT a shot 😄

Sorry, this is for the bike erg...

Pb'd my 100k today.

Managed to hit my goal of the fastest 100k recorded on the erg.

2:48:28.6 / 1:41.0 average split / 339 avg watts.

Mission accomplished, and now I can get back to the rower😁

Absurdly good. So this is a WR?

You need to get yourself on the skierg. Sub-6 on all three. You know you want to.

A sub 6:45 4k .... 25x in a row with no break B)

Do you have a specific goal on the rowerg right now? (sub 16 5k would look great in your signature  )

Cheers everybody!

Max: Well, technically C2 doesn't maintain records for the BikeErg. But, it does maintain rankings & this is the fastest 100k that's ever been ranked. As for the Ski, I had once had ambitions of being sub 6 on all 3! But turns out... I'm (relatively) crumby at the ski erg. I do have one, so we'll see what the future holds, but sub 6 doesn't seem realistic.

Martin: You're a wise man! These next 3-4 months will be focused on aerobic power on the Rower, culminating in testing my 5k... sub 16 sure would be nice!

While I have used the Bike ERG I have never tested anything on it but from what I know this seems absolutely insane - great work!

I did my first 2k yesterday. Did not do any preparation, just wanted to go hard for a few strokes and then just row easy to the finish.
Then I thought it does not feel too bad, just keep going.
Soon I noticed I started too hard and was close to peak heart-rate. (Sensor broke last week so only a feeling)
Then I had to lower the intensity, and was able to pick it up in the last few meters again.

Next time I know to start at a slower pace. Maybe I will be able to break 7:00 this year?! Just a big maybe.

:D Looking forward to your 5k!

@ skierg: That's a pity, I expected you're well built for this machine. Is strength endurance in the anterior chain the biggest issue? I guess a lot of mileage is needed to get core, chest and arms adapted to this kind of movement.

And congrats on winning the bikeerg world sprints again! Doing a 5:55 4k and a WR 100k only a few days later is camazing!
