Thank you David!
Pretty impressive logbook you have there.
Thank you David!
yeah, I think your physique and strength for sprint rowing could be worsebtlifter wrote: ↑November 3rd, 2021, 1:18 pmThanks everybody!
Martin: No 'sprint training' to speak of. But, I lift heavy weights and do a fair bit of quick intervals. So, I imagine that I'm pretty well trained for it, anyway.
Paul: yeah, I aways have my partner standing on the front + a sandbag on the back if I'm trying to sprint. Not sure what my LP was. It all happened too quickly to notice, haha
Cheers, Martin, fingers crossed!MartinSH4321 wrote: ↑November 4th, 2021, 3:40 amyeah, I think your physique and strength for sprint rowing could be worsebtlifter wrote: ↑November 3rd, 2021, 1:18 pmThanks everybody!

No real sprint training makes this even more impressive! If you train a bit more for it I think you could be sub 13 pretty fast. I don't want to compare myself with you, but when I started to work on my 100m technique and erg setup (fixed to the ground, feet as high as possible, non-slip shorts, rating) I was able to improve by about 1'' without strength or endurance improvements.
Yeah, I think that's right. For me, the higher the feet the more it feels like a deadlift, and also the more stable I am on the seat. With feet in normal position I lift my whole body up from the seat when sprinting, don't know if it's a technique issue or because of high force and rating (around 60). Maybe feet higher will help you too.btlifter wrote: ↑November 4th, 2021, 9:05 amCheers, Martin, fingers crossed!MartinSH4321 wrote: ↑November 4th, 2021, 3:40 amyeah, I think your physique and strength for sprint rowing could be worsebtlifter wrote: ↑November 3rd, 2021, 1:18 pmThanks everybody!

I'm curious about the "feet as high as possible" part. I do put my feet 1 notch higher for sprinting and it feels like that translates to a little more power. I assume this is because it creates a shorter lever arm (like keeping the bar close to body when deadlifting). If that's the case, how come we move our feet lower for longer pieces? Is it just to open the angle a little bit and create more room for a longer stroke?
Cam, I think the main reason for the high feet is that your angle of force is then slightly downwards - when your feet are lower you tend to push slightly upwards and when sprinting can easily come off the seat.btlifter wrote: ↑November 4th, 2021, 9:05 amCheers, Martin, fingers crossed!MartinSH4321 wrote: ↑November 4th, 2021, 3:40 amyeah, I think your physique and strength for sprint rowing could be worsebtlifter wrote: ↑November 3rd, 2021, 1:18 pmThanks everybody!

1K is my best distance as well. Last year I made good improvements in longer rows but my 1K is always my best when compared to others in my age group. It does seem to incorporate strength and capacity fairly evenly.btlifter wrote: ↑November 3rd, 2021, 1:21 pmCheers, Keith. I'm sorta similar. The 1k is my sweetspot; I have a fair bit of strength, but am not as quick/explosive as the absolute best over the true "sprint" distances. Fortunately, my conditioning is more developed than most "sprinters".KeithT wrote: ↑November 3rd, 2021, 12:57 pm
Wow! I cant wrap my head around these sort of sprints - I am still a better sprinter than distance person but I don't have that super low pull power. I rely on holding decently fast splits to get results. Even when I was a little stronger I still didn't have that explosiveness. I also start seeing worse results when DF is that high. Anyway, this about you and you crushed it!!!
Well done Alex, that's a great improvement for 100m! If you do it BEFORE weights you may get sub17 next timewinniewinser wrote: ↑November 7th, 2021, 12:29 pmFull speed erg yanking after some weights ... PB by 0.3s.

Thx Keith......picking some easy fruit.
