Thanks appreciated, was a little bit 'scary finding out that lacking a bit of a vitamin col dhave such an effect, just glad i can just take the supplements and move on, am planning to touch base with Eddie Fletcher over the next few days and pick up where i left off (probably re-do a bit of the 100k plan though).

I was set to start week 8 of the Eddie Fletcher 100k plan, and was perplexed with the "+" for "maxHR 85%+", as everyplace else, you keep stroke and heart rate constant, but modulate power.
As I understood him, I used the calculated adjusted power and stroke rate for 100k, and then HR can float up to 90% of maximum.
I programed the monitor into 5, 30 minute, segments, with 10 seconds rest to swallow some water, or take a bite out of a boiled potato. On the third 'interval', I started taking my power up a bit, and by the fifth, my HR started approaching the 90% mark. Came out to about 65% of a 'marathon'.
On the negative side, using a newly-purchased Scullr rowing computer, my OTW pace/500 stinks! Many, many more muscles at play than on the erg.

Figure this is a good place to mention I did a 24h row this weekend (with a 50k warm-up; thanks, RowPro!). I'll spare you the full recap, and I don't think I have much to say that hasn't been said before, but if anyone has any questions I'll try to answer them.
A few points:
- Don't use RowPro. 24h RowPro session = PM4 stopped and reset at 50k. 24h PM4 variable interval session = RowPro didn't save anything at the end. At least my OTW avatar helped pass the time a bit.
- My first attempt started around noon. My second attempt started around 6pm. Coming out of the night and realizing I'd be rowing until sundown (at this time of year) was a bummer. Definitely would have preferred going from noon until noon as originally planned. YMMV.
- Don't ask me questions about how to train for a 24h row. I didn't.

Insane enough to do a 24 h row, but that warmup to go with it. WOW! I can't believe you went through with it this time after that.

Words fail me Ewen. A 50k is hard enough, but to still attack a 24hr after that is phenomenal. Re ROwPro i gave up with it when i found it didn't integrate very well with the pm4/5. Not sure if it has got any better, but to be frank couldn't be bothered to de-bug it.

Rescheduling wasn't really an option, so it was "24h + 50k" or nothing.
While the late start and short days made for a rather "dark" 24 hours, one advantage of doing it in the fall was that I just had to turn the heat down to have a comfortable temperature indoors, with minimal sweating.

"many more muscles" ... and wind and tide and current and boat wetted area and water temp and chop/swell/wakes and weeds on your skeg and .... At least you can see when you pick up or lose speed during a single workout. We have a few cox boxes with GPS based splits now like your scullr. Very fun to hear the splits, especially when they are improving. Not sure what we're going to use them for. Too hard to compare OTW workouts by split times where we row - the water changes too quickly.

Just about 2.5 weeks to go before my 100km attempt. Last Sunday I decided to do a race day simulation. Got up around the time I plan to, ate what I plan to, got some water and electrolytes on board, and had everything set to go. I had been doing the bulk of my training in the mid day or later afternoon, so I thought it would be prudent to test the day of plans.
Sat down at 8:15 am to start a FM row. Stuck to my hydration and nutrition plan of 50:50 juice and water with some salt every 20 min, plus some calories in the form of food. The 20 min was the perfect time I think. It made a manageable chunk where I wasn't concerned about distance, just told myself "stay consistent for another 18 min" (or however long it was until the next water). Plan was to hold around 23 SPM and a split pace of ~2:11 to 2:13/500m. Everything was going great until around 35 km mark, then things started falling apart. Pain on the MCL or my right leg, and pain in my wrists made it very unpleasant. These were new areas of discomfort for me. It's not making me enthusiastic about seeing the dark side of 100km.
In happier new though, I've raised over $29,000 for the Lumara Grief and Bereavement Care Society, and am well on my way towards reaching my goal of $50,000. Did a 60 km test last Sunday in preparation for my 100km attempt. Went really well. Was just a little off the goal pace, but that doesn't factor in some unscheduled breaks to help my training partner with some equipment issues. The 60 km was difficult, but didn't leave me feeling like 100 km was not attainable. Do I think I can finish 100 km? absolutely. Can I bank on finishing in under 7.5 hours? That will be a challenge.
Anyways, one week until the event and it should be fun. I developed a team division to the fundraiser as well, and so there will be 12 teams of 4-6 people rowing along with me. It should be a fun and festive atmosphere. The project has been successful at raising over $51,000 for the Lumara Society and honestly I couldn't be happier about that.

60k at any pace is quite the achievement, but in 4.5 hours is really going some. What a difference 10 days makes - you had a pretty grim experience then.

Having the camaraderie of others will be invaluable, as the loneliness of an ultra distance can get sightly overwhelming if you let it seep in, not least as the mind games start to exponentially increase when you get past 65k. They are manageable, but just start your coping strategies before you think you need them.
Best of luck, and I'm sure you'll succeed, not least because you're not making the stupid mistakes I made.
