100k programme

Post by Bluebird92 » July 13th, 2021, 9:19 am

Hi guys,

New to the forum. Started rowing in January, Completed my first marathon row in April (3 hour 15 mins) Haven't really done any long distance rows since. Would like to start training towards completing the 100k row. If anyone has any programmes and/or advice it would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

Im sure there are other programmes, im following the Eddie Fletcher Marathon/100k plan at the moment, currently started week5 of the 100k plan. its a 14 week programme which puts my c.116K row somewhere in September assuming i do not hit any problems along the way of course.

The Fletcher plan seems to be good for the 100k. I also am on week 5 (14 weeks total) and will attempt the 100K row on Sep 25. Having done numerous marathons and a couple of 50k runs - I think I can complete it ok, but I want to have a crack at a reasonable time. That could be my undoing (I'm a little competitive with myself!).

Only tips I would give at this stage, is to firstly have completed some reasonable distances already (one marathon is ok, but maybe get another plus a 50k out of the way first. Secondly - make sure you are very fit before commencing the Fletcher Plan - you need a very solid base. Sounds like you're not too bad based on your marathon time. Finally, get your technique correct - 100K is a long time if you are not at your best technically.

Good luck and keep us posted.
