Continuing to mine the "Tour de SkiErg" newby gains seam.

2k PB.

7:43.8 2,000m 1:55.9 225 1072 40

1:56.8 500m 1:56.8 220 1055 37
1:56.8 1,000m 1:56.8 220 1055 39
1:56.6 1,500m 1:56.6 221 1059 41
1:53.6 2,000m 1:53.6 239 1121 44

Looks like I knew what I was doing! Tough and had to spend some time lying down after, but I didn't have that all-consuming vomit-inducing muscle-burning lactate accumulation. Probably could have gone a bit quicker, then.

Had half an eye on trying to be within a minute of Henry's amazing time, but didn't quite make that. Comparisons are the thief of joy and all that, but this is by a country mile my best SkiErg effort.
Great new milestone Max 👏👏👏...you seem to be getting a liking for this skierg malarky 😉💪👍

Well done Max. This does look like a great strategic ski.

On one hand knowing you could have gone faster is a bit frustrating, but it's also encouraging as you have a seed of hope that you will go faster next time.
Thanks gents,
This was on the back of the most extreme taper ever... work has been getting in the way.

Today on a whim decided to do a 10K TT.
Last one was a few years back: 39.44

I would have been happy with anything lower than that, but surprisingly I managed to pull 39.18.3 :D

Henry, The l4ish 40’ are starting to pay off :D

Congrats! Those sessions can be very productive. Be carefull though, don’t overdo it, with overly much force.

Big chunck, 38.xx next :D

Not a bad idea. In general, even a short wu, is a good idea. The shorter the distance, the more is needed.

This was a row that didn't go to plan.

The plan was a reasonably fast 30r20 with a 165BPM HR cap. Then the HR monitor cacked out at about the 4 minute point.

So I went for a 30r20 PB, with 8500m being the target. I really nearly put the handle down at all the standard intervals: 12 min, 15 min, 5k, 20 min, 6k, 25 min.

Anyway, got there in the end, but it's probably best that I didn't know my heart rate.

116m onto my 30r20 PB and 98m off my free rate PB.
Super strong row! Agree not knowing HR was probably a good thing, one less distraction.

Nothing special, but added 500m to my 60min best. 14830m. Ave HR 131. Was tired though.

Yesterday pulled almost a PB for 5k at 18:31 stroke rate <20 (2nd 2500 in 9:01). Going to try for a sub-18 5k soon and finally(!) a sub 7 2k. My last 2k split yesterday was 7:12 (PB is 7:11).

Sooner or later I’ll get a new phone and app so I can post proper pics etc.

Went for a 500m PB today, previous best was 1:26.8 on a static. Today got 1:25.0 on a dynamic. Hard to say if it would be any different on a static, but I'm not fussed. I went faster so I'm happy :)

Nice, I’ve never tried a dynamic before, does it feel differently?

Heyo,
I know that many can constructively critique my performance, but after a year of being a total slob, I am pretty proud of this. Finally broke 50 minutes on my goal to 60 min.

It's all about progress, while we can critique I doubt anyone will as we understand you are building. Get to your goal of 60 minutes and then start trying to get more power in your stroke.

Great consistency in the middle 300m, I don't know much about Dynamic rowers to say how much different the time is in comparison.

It does, there's more emphasis on the leg drive out of the front. And also with your body not having to move back and forth up the slide with each stroke, higher ratings are easier to hold, but it's harder to get as much force per stroke because you're pushing against a moving foot plate rather than a fixed one.

There's no real tension on the handle once you've got the flywheel moving, which I do prefer, no need to yank the handle into you at the finish.
