found the warmup study. Factors influencing assessment of maximal heart rate
F. Ingjer
"..Abstract
The significance of warm‐up time, time and number of runs, treadmill inclination and the degree of being rested for the assessment of maximal heart rate (HRmax were studied in 59 athletes. A protocol of 2 subsequent 3‐ to 4‐min runs to exhaustion gave the highest average peak HR values. Being rested before the start of the test and the warm‐up time were both decisive in reaching HRmax. .."
Ref'd in this video at about 4 mins in. (the accent is Texas despite the Norway refs) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lmB5cTOWCbs
10 mins vs 30 mins warmup was worth 4 BPM. Not sure how zero minutes would compare.

Hi Theresa,
Congrats on the Holiday challenge 100k. I don't think you need more convincing to start the BPP. Just wanted to say that I'm rooting for you.
I have just finished week 9, and it's actually going much better than expected. Don't get intimidated by the endurance distance; all that happens is that you row approx. 3 minutes longer than in the previous week. Or in week two it's a 10% increase and then it actually gets less
I am not the biggest fan of the speed intervals and have changed them to 3x2000m during the holiday challenge and turned the second endurance row into a 4k-3k-2k-1k interval (my favorite way to row 10k) for some additional kms. Now that the distances are longer, I will try stick to the plan again and see how far I get.
Nice Christmas present - top of my wishlist was some headbands so that I don't constantly have sweat and hair in my eyes![Laughing ](./images/smilies/icon_lol.gif)

Thanks so much, Sabrina! You and Kevin are both 9 weeks in — very cool. I start week 2 tomorrow. Thanks for pointing out the ~3-minute increase. That does indeed sound more manageable.

I was wondering if you'd decided to start Tess. I'm glad to hear you have, just relax and enjoy it. I recommend using Ergdata and uploading workouts to the C2 log book. It's nice to look back and see your improvements.TessBrooklyn wrote: ↑January 2nd, 2021, 12:28 amThanks so much, Sabrina! You and Kevin are both 9 weeks in — very cool. I start week 2 tomorrow. I don't know if you've seen the metronome thread. That's interesting too. I've been an endurance athlete in a few different disciplines over the years and I've found doing what you do in a rhythmic fashion to be one of the greatest benefits. Enjoy!
