New rower - critique my form (Part 2)

Post by ktdohe » July 25th, 2020, 12:19 pm

Thanks to everyone who weighed in on my last video. I lowered the foot pedals and indeed shaved a minute off of my 2000m time (maybe I was trying harder as well). Here is an update - any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated:

Thanks!

You're slouching, sitting on your back pockets....do like your mother says and "sit up!" This should help:

Your sequencing is all mixed up together. Use the pick drill to get it sorted out:

Sometimes I'll do a workout of nothing but drills to try to groove the technique into my reptile brain.

Your age & size are positives & bodes well for future performance. Once you get dialed in, there'll be no stopping you!!

Good job.

You still have a lot to gain. You now use a 3/4 stroke.
Look at your recovery, the first half is good but from there you go wrong, instead of closing the gap between your chest and legs, you stop your upper body, and overbend your legs to compensate.

Try to close that gap much more, get your upperbody in the 11 oclock position, so bend you body more. From there you get most lenght in your stroke and start in the strongest position.
