Wow- thanks to everyone for getting back to me with all of the HRM info.

I did some searching over the last day or so, and I think I’ve narrowed down my choice to either the Garmin HRM1G (if I can still find them new anywhere), or the Wahoo TICKR which I guess is readily available. Would really like the HRM unit to be as slim as possible and not unsnap/fall off during my row. Also important for it to be as accurate as possible, and I guess both of these units do that. I work out today as well... sure wish I had it in time for my row.
You may well be happier without the 🥚 under your jersey. At time of posting here, there is one ebay auction for new Garmin 1-G.
Jackarabit- Thanks much for the tip on the new HRM1G on eBay... just ordered it. Appreciate the tip, bud! I guess it’s a pretty old model at this point... sounds like it’s the way to go for a few folks- can’t wait to check it out.

I just checked, the HRM1G is also the type I have. It talks to the PM4 on the gym Model E just fine. Sometimes take a few seconds to link up, but other than that, no problems at all. And in a dirty habit I picked up years ago before bike rides, I spit on the electrodes before putting it on, to help it make contact as quickly as possible.

Very versatile 🐜 + belt. One reason why I keep PM4 as backup. I regret riding the roads with the overpriced analog standard belt watch combos available at the time, i used to squirt my jersey with a water bottle unless a cold day. Have to be careful about the o-ring under the battery cap! Maybe a touch of petroleum jelly to keep out the flood?

Hey guys- my Garmin HRM1G arrived the other day and I already had a chance to try it out on the rower. Really like it so far... I finally have visibility into my heart rate action during my sessions, and now have this info on my workout graphs as well. So far, so good- thanks much for all of the good info.
