I would like to match all of these with a 20 at the end, but much happier with the scale of the pace compared to a while back

1,000m 3:27.4 1:43.7 14/07/19
2,000m 6:58.3 1:44.5 20/03/19
5,000m 18:17.6 1:49.7 28/03/19
6,000m 22:01.2 1:50.1 25/03/19

I just cleared 1 million meters for May through December, where the year before I only scraped by with a few hundred meters over 1 million as the season ended April 30th. So now that I have that in the bag, my 2020 goal is to hit the 5 million lifetime (recorded, I'm sure I'm past that unrecorded)--just over 900k to go.

And, I want to keep at a minimum of 25k per week all year long but also do more training for bicycle. I did a 40 mile mountain bike race last year for the first time and know I can do much better. But I have to do more than row this year! My cardio is great but my bike legs were shredded by the end of the race. I'm buying a Concept2 bike, and going to spend a lot of time this summer on my mountain bike. I want to drop that 40 mile time in a big way come September, lowering it by 15 to 30 minutes (from 3:55).

Have only just started rowing consistently, it’s serving a purpose of filling the void competitive running has left. Have yet to test myself over the classic distances, but typically hitting 1:42 splits over 500m intervals, and 7700 metres over 30mins.
I’ve read in to Pete’s plan to bring a little focus and structure in to my training, I like to think a sub 6:45 is doable next year, and nearer to an 8000m 30:00. No particular reason for that, guess I’m just partial to a little bit of suffering...

I currently have another bout of illness, but it should pass soon. In the meantime, I'm thinking of 2020 so here is what I'd like to hit next year - with some comments explaining things.

1k - sub-3:15 (I hardly ever do this and am currently at 3:15.6 so should be able to hit this soon)
2k - 6:45 (current PB is 6:51.4 but that was Feb 2019 and I ought to be able to hit 6:48 on a good day now so this seems like a reasonable target)
5k - sub-18:00 (current PB is 18:16.9 so this is a big leap but I think this is realistic)
10k - 37:30 (hardly ever test 10k so current PB is 37:53.6 so need to a) test it more and b) work on this distance more)
30min - 8.100 (current PB is 8,016 and only hit 8k once so need to try this more)
60min - 15,500 (hardly ever go for hour PB so need to do a few more and increase current 15,254)
HM - 1:23:00 (current PB is 1:25.38.4 but I think it's a bit out of date so this is a better target, although a bit of a guess)

I really want to hit 50k weekly average for season and I was on track until last couple of months but that's taken a hit recently so my aim for the 2019-20 season is to get back over the 50k average but that might be tricky.

Hope everyone has a happy and healthy 2020.

Not on here often but for my own sake I’ll get it in writing.

Firstly bag to a regular edging routine. Once a week doesn’t really cut it. A longgggg way off pb pace atm but fitness is there. Been running a lot..

3:15 1k
6:40 2k
18:00 5k
8k 30r20
1:55 1 hour r20

Doing a 50 mile ultra marathon end of October so will be running a fair bit too.

Want to get sub 1:30 half marathon
3:20 full marathon

And in the gym just to get some sort of strength back in the big 3. Numbers are back to not very embarrassing but want 100kg bench 140kg squat 200kg deadlift. I was 2.5-5kg off these numbers when I lifted semi regularly for a few months..

Usually aim to stay around the same weight. Aside from a few months I’ve always been 72-77kg. Willing to let myself bulk up a little this year but not if it starts to affect running. Max is 82 for now. 76.4 after Christmas so doing better than expected.

Hopefully this’ll be the year I can fit in a bit more volume. Got a bit more time this year as contract has changed at work so definitely possible

As I hardly row at all in winter (Nov-Feb) my goal (as it has been for the last 3 years) is to get back to where I was at the end of the previous summer:

<7:30 2K (I don’t even attempt this until August as it’s too depressing).

>7400M 30Min (amazing that this week having not sat on an erg for 2 months (like every year) I’m 6650M in 30 mins, 6645 last year, 6652 year before, very consistent loss of fitness).

<41:15 10k

Lose the 6Kg I put on whilst hibernating and not erging!

Also I want to convince my 16 year old daughter that rowing is good for her hockey cardio fitness. Impressed that she posted a 28:20 5k yesterday having never sat on a erg before.

Started to row more seriously this year so goal 1 is to sustain what I've done and goal 2 to improve my technique.

Time wise i'd like to get under 6:45 for the 2k & maybe take on the BRIC in December, 17:45 for the 5k, 8250m for the 30 minute and under 37:30 for the 10k.

I feel like I should have an actual plan to get to these, but in the absence of that, these are my goals for the year, which have varying degrees of pie in the sky about them:

30' - >7500m
10k - sub 40:00

60' - >14600m
HM - sub 1:29

When/if those are ticked off, focus on some shorter stuff for the following:

1k - sub 3:30
2k - sub 7:15
5k - sub 19:20

Find time to do some lifting - need to get some physiotherapy on my knee first. My experience of 2019 suggests that I will find it hard to fit in the lifting.

Get weight down to <80kg, and keep it there. Stretch target of <75kg.

Goal for the rest of this season, as it is my last season in 50-59 age group I want to get into the top 25% in all distances. Not easy as I am competing against much younger guys.

so far got 4 above 80 the rest above 69%.

Then when I start the 60+ category in May my target is the top 10%, suddenly I will be among the youngest in my group.
Trying to get fitter in my 60's despite loosing one of my quadriceps.
