Great training week for me, 2 PBs (100m + 30R20), 62k rowing + 74k bikeerg, so about 100k for the Holiday challenge.
Today was strength day, but last week cost a lot of energy, legs and back were tired, so the 4x30''/90''R were a good bit slower than last time:
Time Meters Pace Watts Cal/Hr S/M
2:00.0 669m 1:29.6 485 1969 22 135
0:30.0 166m 1:30.3 474 1932 22 129
0:30.0 166m 1:30.3 474 1932 22 134
0:30.0 169m 1:28.7 501 2022 22 138
0:30.0 169m 1:28.7 501 2022 22 139
Additional chest, shoulder and core work, low motivation but OK.
No training tomorrow, so I'll finish the Challenge with 279k, pretty happy with that, definitely need a rest day.
Marry christmas to everyone here!
It's been a long few weeks of volume!
I do wonder whether some of these challenges we sign up for a really worth it.....sure it's great to take part and make a some money for charity but it does throw you off plan somewhat

. I think I also need to stick to a training plan and not get dragged into competing with others who are obviously in another league for things like CTC and FMMC....e.g. the multiple failed attempts at CTC which zapped my legs. I should stick to my targets I think.
I'll have one more crack at FMMC this month as it's 5km anyway but even there I'm always going to be destined for mid table obscurity
Tbh, I do the challenges, but don't change my normal training plan for that. As my training focus is volume I normally get good meters for this challenges
The CTC is only one hard workout and it's easy to get fit into my training schedule, but you're right, it's not easy to accept that there are others who are much stronger, on the other side I think it's interesting to see what elite rowers are able to do

40' at 2:10 pace r20 today.
Thought I had completed the 200K holiday erg challenge but it turns out that I had one session in my log from before the official start date ... so I get to row again tomorrow.
I need an additional 8K before midnight on Christmas.
It's like getting an early present.

I'm glad I am not the only one! Did a 10k on the 27th Nov, and felt great about getting a strong start... only to realise my total was still 0m. Could only manage 5k the next day and was immediately behind schedule.
Enjoy your row this evening!

Really enjoyable session. No drama, metres disappeared a lot quicker than I expected and it just very fluid. I wish I had set it up for longer now and maybe I'm getting closer to my historic Goldilocks rate of 1:58 pace
I did a low rate sprint for the last 350m so that ruined the 1:57 splits.

Holiday Challenge complete ... 201K after this morning's row:
3 X 15' at 2:22, with 1' rest
r18-20
Heart rate 125-135
My thumbs are sore. Otherwise not too bad, but ready for a week of low meters, some good lifting and maybe a few bouldering sessions at the indoor climbing gym.

So 30 minutes steady for me today. The target was to reach 7200m for this session at rate 21!!! I wore the HRM and seen the HR creep into the low 150's after the 20 minute mark, and it stayed on 153bpm to the end, but it honestly didn't feel like i was working too hard and it all felt pretty comfortable

Without the HRM on i would have rated this session at RPE 4.
30:00 - r21 - 2:04.8 - 7210m (df130) end HR avg 149
Now for some Turkey

should have posted earlier but hey... Xmas got in the way.
on xmas morning before the chaos got under way i wandered down to the gym and did.
9 x 5 min 2r @ 2:06.4 24spm
did a 6km warmup on the bike and ditto for the cool down.
had a good session with the doc on xmas eve day and managed to clear some of the crap going on in my head which has made a difference to how i feel.

16x250m, r1’
4000m - 14:11 (1:46)
Trying some new changes on the erg technique-wise. Stroke felt more direct, and power was better than it used to be.
Final rep was 1:39@R36 which is not something I could have done with my previous stroke (I know it was ‘only 250m’, but it felt good!)
Overall split for the piece was 2k-6
