Andrew - I note your 3:02 which is v strong...sub 3?
Marius, still killing it, and you almost even got the big man :P

Andrew, would expect you to crack 3, given your other work, or you are a non sprinter. Congrats both again.

@Gammmmo - Not sure  I though 1:18 on the 500m was very close to my max, but it seems like there is still some more left in me for the shorter distances.
@hjs - Had the world sprints been a week earlier then it would be very close. I got sick at the absolutely worst time. Did a controlled 800m@1:24.5 pace two and a half weeks ago with no fade or increase in the SPM at the end.

I tested my 2K Sunday and trimmed 4 seconds off my PB with a 6:31.6!

I was happy with this and it's getting me really close to my ultimate goal of a sub 6:30 by the WRIC. My pacing overall was pretty solid with the following splits/SPM - 1:37.2 (31), 1:38.4 (27), 1:38.1 (29), 1:38.0 (33) - the last split was a little deceiving as I faded a little from 500 - 250 but then still got an OK final push, was prob like 1:40 for 250 and 1:35ish for last 250. Also, the first split was quicker due to 5 hard pulls and a settle - most was done right at 1:38. I planned for a 1:38 pace and executed it pretty well.

Nice, a good chunk again. Pacing looks ok to me. Do you really rate up in the last 100m? Helps me a good bit, rating 40, half slide. Will hurt though

I do increase my rate but not sure I get to 40 SPM at the end - this one particular, I couldn't drive down the split as much as usual but I think it's because I did better maxing the pace for the whole piece. My last test I sprinted better at end but was almost 2 seconds per split slower in the middle. Going to get some good training in for the next 6 weeks or so and tackle my hated 4x1000 a couple times and then give it another go and plan for a sub 6:30 - maybe late December or beginning of New Year.

I am a bit shorter, maybe 38 for you.
Also I do have a wierd sprint, if am close to someone with 1 min to go, I always win.

Pacing was certainly good yes, if you get a good run and into a race you could end up a bit faster. The race can give you just that extra. At the start thats a minus, be carefull, don,t go off to fast.
Other point, racing software, first stroke will be a reaction not like home a start from zero. Expect that, first stroke will be very slow. Ignore that!

I have done some comps before and guess I never really noticed the first stroke as when I do the fist couple I am pulling hard and not really watching the monitor yet. So, it accounts for reaction time? Does that mean you actually might row a little quicker than what the final time is? - maybe a few tenths?

Ok, yes it the reaction time. Think its even a bit more. But ok, you know how its works, thats the main thing.
Once did a 500 race, took forever to get the av going, race results at sprints are slower, you can,t compensate. 2k is different, race atmosfere makes up for that loss.

Really well done Keith, that's a huge improvement on a 2k, and you executed it more than just "pretty well"

You've got me considering doing a 2k again sometime soon.

Thanks Dangerscouse!! My last 2 attempts have both had me drop 4 seconds - now each time I waited a couple months between but it shows my training is working. I also have delayed testing as I still always have that bit of "fear" for the 2K test. I think nothing of testing shorter or longer distances and will do at random times but the 2K is a main goal and its just harder to me than the others. That said, I encourage you to do it.

Great work PBH!! I just went over 700K (mostly all this season as that's when I started tracking regularly) and am looking forward to reaching this milestone. I like your attitude of "first of many".
