DOMS recovery day...

- 5K @ 2:04.3 / DF 115 / SR 21

varied the stroke rate from 17 to 26 for most of the piece with a little sprint down to 1:36 pace in the last 100m

My triceps are still a bit achy but the rest of me feels nice and loose

Sessions after my previous post:

Yesterday, instead of my usual hard 8K weekly session, I thought why not try full 10K. Goal 1. was sub39, goal 2: SPM preferably <24. Managed to achieve both. Ranked that, even it was not full effort and done with non-optimal SPM and is still about 01:30 slower than where I was last August.

Best of luck with the recovery, that sounds bad

First session in almost two weeks due to illness.

10km at r21 HR capped at 145 and trying, and succeeding, to average 140. I think the final time was 39:54. Felt good to be back on the rower but I'm still struggling with the tail end of this illness

Thanks, Stu! Good luck with your recovery, too! My medical problems may look bad on paper but actually the biggest pain atm comes from hard corn at the sole of my right foot

Did another 72 minutes (6 rounds of 12' (spm 18/20/19/22/19),target strokes 1374. Avg watts were first time over 180W, which is good. Another 10W to go and then hopefully can get HR down a bit before heading to higher avg-SPMs.

Thanks for the helpful tips. My background in weight training is basically nothing :? . I do a body weight circuit for core and upper body 2 days out of 3 before breakfast. That includes using dumbbells for bicep curls, goblet squats and russian twist. That's it... Anyway my plan is months away, so I'll be asking again when the time comes.

Well done and good progress! It would be better to address the resistance setting in terms of drag factor rather than damper setting as the DF will vary a lot from one machine to another with an identical DS depending on how clean the machine is. It is good to set a DF in the 110 - 130 range depending on your own "sweet spot" and check machines as part of the set up for a piece.

13K@1:59.6, SPM=25, very hot, negative splitting. 70KM erg for the week, an erg PB, one weights session and an hour of core - that's very solid for me. All systems go....
