Re: Heart rate monitor
I did a fair bit of research in to heart rate monitors and eventually went for the Wahoo TickrX. I think one of the main reasons was that A) it did Bluetooth and Ant+ and
because it could store a much longer session without needing to be sync'd to a phone. It works well but I fairly often have problems when I use it at the gym but maybe not the Wahoo's fault: viewtopic.php?f=10&t=155262

Re: Heart rate monitor
Note that ErgData can get HR data directly from the HR monitor if you want. Probably not worth it if you're using a PM5 but great if you're using an older monitor.Remo wrote:ErgData gets the HR data from the PM5, not the HR monitor. In other words, you have to sync the HR monitor to the PM5.

Re: Heart rate monitor
I've been working with the Scosche rhythm + this weekend and have been quite pleased with the accuracy and ease of use. I actually have settle on strapping it around the lower end of my calf for erging as it seemed to move a bit too much on my forearm.JerekKruger wrote:Note that ErgData can get HR data directly from the HR monitor if you want. Sadly, I have a PM3 and have no HR link to my monitor. I use ergdata on my iphone but would prefer a heart rate app that gave a graphic representation of the HR through the workout. Anyone have any suggestions?

Re: Heart rate monitor
thanks for all the recommendations.
Is it possible to have a hear rate monitor which is just a watch or do you always need a chest strap?

Re: Heart rate monitor
It is, but they're much less accurate. I wouldn't recommend one if you want to use heart rate training zones.rlovatt wrote:Is it possible to have a hear rate monitor which is just a watch or do you always need a chest strap?

Re: Heart rate monitor
I use the Garmin Vivoactive HR watch and the Garmin chest strap. The strap is very reliable and the rowing app on the watch is very good as well. With the Garmin, the strap supersedes the heart rate sensor on the watch and gives more accurate information.

Re: Hear rate monitor
I'm going to resurrect this thread as my Polar H7 has stopped working reliably. I like the look of the Garmin hard strap but before I buy one does anyone know of any reason it wouldn't work with ErgData connected to a PM3.
I only ask because when I bought a Concept 2 heart rate receiver and cable to use with my PM3 (before I used ErgData) they recommended the Polar H7 rather than the Garmin. I doubt this would be a problem with ErgData, since you're connecting to your phone rather than the monitor itself, but I thought I should check.

Re: Heart rate monitor
No idea about Polar Tom, but I do recommend the Wahoo Tickr. Works really well with monitor and is reasonably priced too

Re: Heart rate monitor
Might have to try that out as I have checked with Concept 2 and the Garmin belts won't work with my current setup. I'll fiddly around with my current strap a little bit more, but if I can't get it working reliably soon I'm going to have to replace it.Dangerscouse wrote:No idea about Polar Tom, but I do recommend the Wahoo Tickr. Re: Heart rate monitor
Geonaute make a Dual Bluetooth Smart/ANT+ chest strap that works fine with the PM5 and costs the equivalent of about 30 pounds here in Poland. I just checked the UK site and it's 29.99....

I've got a PM3, although if it uses Bluetooth it should work with ErgData directly. Thanks for the recommendation.NavigationHazard wrote:Geonaute make a Dual Bluetooth Smart/ANT+ chest strap that works fine with the PM5 and costs the equivalent of about 30 pounds here in Poland.
