Outstanding achievement! I particularly appreciate your daily documentation of how you've progressed and your approach. Non-conventional but effective.

It's definitely inspiring.
It motivates me to put something into the 1K and I am very biased toward longer distances. But I think the shorter stuff is actually healthy.

Steve, it is fairly clear to me that my diet has both improved my strength and my recovery, I demonstrate it on an almost daily basis- I have no doubt that I currently have the physical capacity to go after the 40+ WR of 1:13.7 and so that is my current target

Did I miss something?

According to the C2 Records List you already beat the 40-49 world record

Pavel Shurmei posted a 1:13.7 in February of this year shortly after turning 40, thus regardless of the official listing, I consider it the WR (although I think another guy from Poland is going to break it soon when he turns 40 as well)

From the man himself, he collects all kind off sprint results. Both Shawn and Pavel s results included

Go get it pal

I really admire your determination and confidence you have in yourself towards this, Shawn. It's those things that make true winners in life.

I do think Shawn that your hard work and diet play the most important part, but you have some darn good genes too -- at least for the rower. I think the most impressive thing is that people just don't train like you in their 30s, 40's or 50's typically. No doubt that there's something to that diet for you. Every single time I try to row and lift (and my routine dwarfs compared to yours), I end up sick if I push too hard (and I'm only 52).
