Lindsay, pretty good for an oldster. No one in front of you for >= 60 this season, except for one 70 slacker. JimG

Thanks Glen - it is interesting to ponder what part of the training is having the biggest impact but certainly something seems to be working.
I had 6 weeks HM meters then 6 weeks of IP stuff to prepare for it but I do feel it was the right call at the right time as I was ready for the intensity and able to embrace the PP as it is meant to be done. The 3 hard sessions are suiting me right now and I haven't had to step back. I like it for now and really interested to see what happens with the 2k TT Nov10. The hard middle distance 5-10k seem to benefitting most right now because my fitness is so good but the speed intervals are suggesting close to my 1:41 goal as well.
I am starting to flirt with the idea of another cycle after this if it seems to be helping otherwise it is on with an IP focus.

thanks Jim - there are some older guys faster I guess and the 6k is not logged all that much but I will take it - not thinking I can best you though.
(I assume you meant 65+ Jim) I reckon there is a bit more in there on these middle ones.

Thanks to all the regulars in this forum. I follow the progress on here that keeps me motivated to improve.
I have been doing a lot of long steady state (an hour or more) and sometimes that can be a slog but I see
the results now.

Thanks. Your times have been one of my big motivators. I'd be very happy if I am able to pull these same times in
another 10 years!

wilkes, if u just trimmed 27 seconds off your pb set only 2 weeks ago, it means you have plenty more to come off that again. another LWT too ;)

Well done Wilkes! Nice improvement and you deserve to be stoked. BTW those times you have and your weight and height are quite amazing to this 54 year old who is 50 lbs heavier. You must have a past as a runner or bicycler. Looks like you have a great CV system.

Having had a two week break after W3 of the BPP, I feel like I'm starting all over again somewhat. Took the pace down today for a 2K after a longer warm up than usual - aiming for a decent WU and CD each time now, rather than just when I feel I have the energy. Anyway, then I did my second ever 500m sprint, hoping to prove to myself I have come on a little in something at least! Maybe not what the PP or BPP is all about but hey!

First ever 500m attempt was late August time. Managed 1:58.9 and I was dying. Legs gone half way through, hanging on to the end. Went out too fast, couldn't handle the damper setting of 10. Such rookie errors!

Today: 1:50.9

Final 100m was slightly slower than 3-400, but I hung in there. CV system suffered more than my legs this time, but recovery should be faster. Last time I still felt it five days later!

Anyway, pleased with that as an improvement. Will try again in a few weeks.
