Pete Plan Group - Startup Aug 20th thru 22nd
Re: Pete Plan Group - Startup Aug 20th thru 22nd
Welcome back, Nick. I think most of the BPP'ers are still around. Me, Tim, Gordon, and Barry are still posting. I haven't seen Adam in awhile but he's still updating the spreadsheet so maybe he's watching silently. The other Nick had to take some time off maybe a week ago, but I haven't seen him since.
Keep rowing.
Keep rowing.

Jack - sorry you are not feeling it at the moment. It would be a shame not to snag that 2K. What about a quick taper then a go before your reunion? Not trying to put you on the spot - just wishing you the best and also that you get a nice reward for all the hard work this go around.
John - I'm starting to second guess a max effort mile! That would be as bad as a full 2K. I will probably rate cap mine. Chicken, yes. But I also have my eyes on the 4 x 1K that follows.

I'm going to practice the finish and hopefully not at max-max effort, hopefully more like very hard interval effort, but alternatively you could practice the first bit, so follow whatever your race plan would be and see how that would leave you feeling with 400m still to go, that wouldn't be max effort and you'd still get a decent time and also give you some idea of if sub7 is on or not.G-dub wrote:John - I'm starting to second guess a max effort mile! I think that is what I'm going to do - practice the first bit. Maybe if things feel OK push the last 200 down or so.

Nice work Rohan (on the 4 X 2K) and you Sanz also on the Pyramid - both of you were really consistent!
Nick - Welcome back. Hope your shoulder is better.
Ben - Great interval session. Nice last rep! You might have to increase that average next time starting out.
Gordon - you're looking strong Gordon. Great job on the 8K.
Lindsay / Sanz took it easy on the SS. I'm more in that camp. Find it interesting then Luke is tearing up the speed on the SS work. Different strategies. That was a really fast SS session Luke!
Went in to today knowing it's the 4 X 2000 day. I didn't think I was quite ready for that. So I went in saying if I feel great, I'll do it (my HR still is more elevated on rows than normal - I've been doing this long enough I don't need a HRM to tell me that - recovery has been terrible). I considered doing Piers great suggestion of adding 2 seconds (one for each week off) to my average last time on this, which would have been around a 1:58 something average. Instead, I had my mind made up I'd stick to a 1:58 and then let it rip (if I had anything on the last one to see if I could perhaps do a 1:57 average instead, only a second off my last time).
Well, the "plan" fell apart. Went out way too fast on the first two (slower than last time but too fast for how I'm feeling) and instead of just HDing, I said on the 3rd one I'd just do a 1000m and see how I felt about another 1000m after that. The times on the 2000s are exact. That's an estimate of the 1K (I know it's pretty close to what I did but probably not exact). After that I was pretty spent today. Did a 1K W/U and a 1K C/D. At least I got some speed work in today. Felt good about that.
Did 2000 X 2, then a 1000
7:48.6 / 2000 / 1:57.1 / 27
7:44.9 / 2000 / 1:56.2 / 27
1000 / 1:56.4 / 27

BPP Week 8.2 4x1500m 3'r DF117

6:34.5 1,500m 2:11.5 154 829 26
Target was 2:09 I got there the hard way, rather turn the splits upside down. Realized I felt too good on the first interval and went out too quick. Legs were screaming after the 3rd interval I guess that is the way it is supposed to be.
@Mike - good to have you back among the living.

Pete 3.2.1
Spd intervals
7500m pyramid
Pace target from 9/17: 1:57.3
Df 118
3k WP w/ bursts to 1:58
2750 CD
Pace roller coaster derailed! Could have held the damage in the second 750 to maybe 2:01-2 but chose to "enjoy" failure.

Still, yet Jack, under a 2:00 average. Good work on coming back!
Tim - at least you had more "guts" than I did. You finished it. If I had tried to finish my intervals, would have been a lot worse crash and burn than yours... Normally (not being just back after being sick), I'd say it's better to do it like you did. Crash and burn and take the lumps. I would have normally done that today but quite frankly I'm feeling too good now to have a set back like I did last week so played on the conservative side today.
