Not sure the time gap between the two, nor am I sure about age. But he is an example of bringing other sports to erging. I suppose I have to submit myself as another prime example of that. Just before turning 66 I did 6:57 at the Ga Tech Erg Sprints in 2012 mostly because my wife volunteered me; I had under 6 weeks of practice. 8 weeks later, at age 66 I did 6:40.7, my PB and at the time under the current WR. No doubt that my cycling aided greatly. But I've never trained like a rower since - very low weekly meters - and is probably the reason that I've never improved on my best, set 14 weeks after beginning. So, I improved about 16 sec from my first 2K to my best - the same as Henry, although offset by at least 30 yrs in age.
I was proberly not fully clear.
I have two erging "carreers", proberly even 3.
First time in my 20 ies, 6.38 to 6.14.7 pb. Stopped due to a ongoing backproblem. Got operated etc. Long break
Late 30. 95% effort 6.55. Pulled 6.24 three months later. Next year 6.22 stopped again for a year back/hiptrouble.
Begin 40 started again. And pulled sub 6.30 every year. Between 6.29/6.22
In my 20 ies on trained very low volume. Would have been faster If I trained like I do now.
For the rest it shows to me that erging is very age friendly.
