There are now rumours of Benton pulling sub 1:00 :?:

Nope..... not true...... sorry.

Benton's lowest pull is 1:04 as is Rob Waddell's.

As for highest spm's it all depends on your sprint style...... we had all sorts in the MAD 100k WR in 2004. The like's of Tony Larkman, Chris Brett & Rob Smith would do about a 1/2 slide with a lot of back movement, much like Benton and would be around 50-55spm, while ones like Graham Kirk favored about a 1/4 slide and a lot of arm movement and was generally at 65-70spm, although in training he once tried a 10sec sprint and kicked the rate as high as poss for a laugh and actually went over 100spm as the clock went '--' spm so we don't know how much over 100spm he went, but the average for the 10 sec was 94spm

He was still pulling 1:08's at 100+spm

ouch, the lowest I have ever seen was a 1:20 i can get down to about 1:24- 1:25ish for 2-3 strokes... more than that i'm dead (and it would be on a dampener of 10)

I wish my brother would row , he's a 19 year old 6'4" ,200 pound beast, I put him on the erg and he pulled a 1:19 by the third stroke with what seemed like no effort, then he stopped, got off and said " I quit, this is too boring." ugh, he could be so good

Heard yesterday (from an ex-Leander athlete) that Pinsent pulled a 1:02 split in some sort of race/demo with Royce's Gym.

The lowest split I have ever seen was 1:13 by my coach (Lawrence Moebius). It was a rainy day and we were in the PFC (physical fitness center) and were doing some strapless work when someone decided to see who can get the lowest split. Someone went on, got 1:22, then I went on and got 1:21, then our coach gets on, in 4 strokes gets 1:13 and procedes to say "You lose" to me. I had to take the garbaje out :(

Hey Ben,

Wow you have a great cross country team at FM, almost national champions for two years in a row. With your build you should talk to the coach and team and check them out. You could be a very fine runner with your build and enthusiasm. :)

Well it's hard to care about something before you get into it and when you've never done it before hehe.

Anyway that must be cool going to the same school that they do.

I have seen Fitzgibbons' name up there with the team, mostly during cross country when their results are posted on the internet.
