New Erg Setup

Hi im new to rowing and i just got my rower and wonder what would be the best settings for me ie Damper resistance, foot position etc?

Im 6ft with a shoe 8.5 u

Damper setting recommended by Concept 2 is between 3-5 but what you really want to check is the actual drag factor of the machine you are rowing on. A 5 damper setting should be around 135. As far as the foot rests, I prefer to have them adjusted such that the stirrup strap crosses over the ball of my foot thus allowing my heals freedom to move upward at the catch given the flexibility I currently have. I suggest you view the techniques videos on the Concept 2 website for tips on rowing an erg.

Keep the feet and the drag both low, so that you can pull a long stroke quickly from a strong catch position: shins vertical, shoulders forward, back straight and hands near the chainguard.
