Has anybody experienced a problem with the heart rate display that can provide advice to fix the problem. Mine displays the heart rate intermittently, more often not displaying. My watch picks it up fine. I've replaced the transmitter and the cable. I'm wearing polar's flexible strap. Any suggestions? Tks.

Problem with heart rate display
I had similar problems. I confirmed that the receiver was working correctly by holding it near the transmitter. I eventually tried placing the receiver at various positions under the erg and then on top of erg with varying results. I eventually placed the receiver near the right foot plate and things have been working fine ever since.
Re: Problem with heart rate display
To clarify: the transmitter is part of the belt; the receiver is attached to the cable to the PM2/3. I take it you've replaced both the receiver and the associated cable? Has the equipment ever worked satisfactorily, or have you just started having trouble? If you hold the receiver in your hand near the chest belt, does it work any better?cali30306 wrote:Has anybody experienced a problem with the heart rate display that can provide advice to fix the problem. I've had trouble in the past with electrical interference from seemingly innocuous items like electronic clocks. Try removing or unplugging everything electronic within a 15' radius, or moving the rowing machine somewhere else (just as a troubleshooting measure). If you can get it working reliably, you can start adding back the various items you removed and hopefully find the source of the interference.

The PM3 HR interface is very sensitive to lost beats. If you don't get good connectivity from the chest transmitter to your skin then it's easy to lose a few beats in the signal. The PM3 cancels the display much earlier than your watch will. I always start by licking each of the pads on my chest strap - later on the sweat keeps a good contact. If it goes blank if I can be bothererd I'll stop and shuffle the chest strap back into place.
See http://c2forum.com/viewtopic.php?t=20 for some recent discussion of HR interface problems. I've asked if PM3 can add a longer delay before blanking the display to allow for a few more missed beats.
