2k Best time plan

Post by Maxy » December 2nd, 2012, 5:30 pm

Hi,

I am 15 and have jsut started with the erg and dont understand the numbers on the screen.

my best time is 7.05 over 2k's on the erg and I did this with 32 to 34 showing the screen for the most part though i picked up speed towards the end.

can anyone help with a plan to achieve 6.50 over 2k.s

or is there something i can look to see what i have to do - i think it i will find it easier to go out with a plan as opposed to just fronting up and doing my best.

thank you for any help on this.

Maxy

Start at the concept2 website. The training section has really good info for folks starting out

By the way, a time of 7:05 for 2K is a really good time for someone who is 15, so congratulations. The 32 to 34 is the strokes per minute and that's right in the right range too for that distance.

If you want to use a training plan, there are a whole bunch of different ones. The one I'd try first is probably the "Pete Plan". There are two versions, a beginner plan and the full scale plan. I'd start with the beginner plan and then switch after a couple weeks.

If you prefer you could also try the interactive plan from the Concept2 UK site which is automagically generated based on your time and fitness. It's a bit more complicated than the Pete Plan, but many people have used it very successfully.

Good luck!

Hi Maxy,

Is there a local High School or Junior Crew team that you can join? I am sure that there is a rowing coach out there who would be delighted to have someone who pulled a 7:05 on a first 2k come out to the team.
