Mile for Mike
Re: Mile for Mike
All of the copious advice on this forum, the US and UK training guides, are geared towards a 2k race (the standard C2 and Olympic race distance) but it should be good enough for a few weeks of training, even if yours is a mile instead.
Re: Mile for Mike
Thanks for that Sir - probably a little lack of detail on the original post - the "catchy" title/distance is because the event will be my first attempt at remembering my amazing brother who recently (24 April) lost his 2 year battle with cancer and is a previous entry into the BIRC - posting a 6:32.3 a few years ago.
Also the distance is a little less daunting than the 2K so many are fans of and I hope will add to the all in feel of the day and improve our chances of high entry level and standard making it an annual event.
Would you advise any tapering of the 2K program or just crack on?

Re: Mile for Mike
Hope that your event go as you are planning it and that it shine the memory of Mike. As for training advice you can stick to the same as for a 2K. A mile sprint appear to be an interesting approach to lower splits of the famous Crash B's.Trigger8 wrote:Thanks for that Sir - probably a little lack of detail on the original post - the "catchy" title/distance is because the event will be my first attempt at remembering my amazing brother who recently (24 April) lost his 2 year battle with cancer and is a previous entry into the BIRC - posting a 6:32.3 a few years ago.
