I get the feeling that you might be using a rate (i.e. strokes per minute) that is too high. This is typical for first time users of indoor rowing machines. What rate were you using? Note that the stroke has two parts, a hard, quick drive and a slow, easy recovery.

Also, work on the most efficient sequence: Push hard with the legs. Blend in the back swing. Finish the drive with the arms. Get the hands away quickly. Bring the shoulders back. And, finally, raise the knees, bringing the body up to the catch.

Nice 60'. On slides, I assume? I'll have to try that someday.

Yes Greg, it was on slides. In fact, it was the video I posted on the forum asking for a critique of my technique.

Broke 7:20 for the first time. 7:19.5 to be exact :D

Hadn't done a 2k in some time so it was nice to see some improvement even as I get older.

O.K., so it's a just typo, but it still makes one wonder about time machine paradoxes.

i just got my pb for the 2k down from 8,25.1 to 7,36.0 i thought that wasnt to bad for my first week on a rower hopefully when i lose some of the 190kg off my 189cm frame i can break the 7 minute mark.

That is incredible Greg. Way to go ! I'm happy for you, but you do realize that your times were one of my goals that I was shooting for but now I don't think I have a prayer of getting to those kinds of numbers :-(

CJ- That is great progress. I did the same thing a couple of months ago and found the success very addicting :-)
Just be careful not to overdo it at first (I pulled a muscle a few weeks into training and had to sit out 2 weeks).
