Ranger - there is 0 evidence that your current training practices are beneficial in any way. Why not come off it, follow a more traditional plan, and show us all what you can really do?
Why do people keep asking ranger questions as though he's a rational human being?

The evidence has been clear for years. Years.

I've said this before, but I am still wondering. Why should a guy who is only 5'11"' and has such skinny legs have trouble making weight? If he had a weight-lifter's build, I could understand, but in his pictures, he doesn't have that kind of arm and shoulder development.

Hi Bob,
He has made references in his postings to binge drinking and eating. He would probably be in denial.

First of all one has to admire Ranger for making the long journey. My initial impressions were that he must find it hard to make the weight and that his carefully manufactured stroke is not smooth enough-i know this is heretical- because the time gap between the very strong leg drive and the arm pull is too long.In the race he started out very well ,but after about 700 metres 1 stroke in 5 was essentially a rest-indeed I saw a 2.30.He lost ground rapidly ,but did seem to finish quite well although the screen was not showing him at that time.I suspect he can go substantialy faster, but of course his stated aspirations are fantastical.Let us not forget that he is nearly 60 and would have won that race comfortably

nah..... not true, his first 142 stroke was in the first 100 meter, he did not start out well, his pace was all over the place, the hole furum is right except a few exceptions.

No I don't have to admire a narcissist's activity designed to bolster his inflated view of himself.

Suggesting he started well makes no sense, since he started at a pace he could not possibly maintain. This delusional behavior was widely predicted.

The idea that he might have won some other race is utterly ridiculous. He messed up the race he was in. Other races are entirely irrelevant.

Your second post "gerry" and one that I find highly offensive. Paul Wenham won the race with an outstanding time and is a worthy champion.

He won't do the Wolverine Plan his coach won't let him. It doesn't fit well with his rowing and racing with breaks methods.

If Rich followed an orthodox training plan he could row a 6:38. With his current haphazard training he might get to 6:41 by the CRASH-Bs in February if he's lucky. Rocket's 55-59 WR is looking more and more secure.

From a little bit of observation on the day:
i) Rich has changed nothing about his stroke. Not in warmup, not in race.
ii) He doesn't stroke that hard. No way.

And not making the presentation? Utterly piss weak performance. He wasn't sick, I saw him trotting around post race shaking his head, and looking bitterly disappointed, as well he may.

Why didn't I walk up to him and wish him a good race, or ask him what happened? Simply couldn't be arsed.

Really ... why would anyone think ranger would stand on the podium for 3rd place? Any reasonable person who worked their ass off would be happy to do that ... someone who spends all day spitting on ayone else who ergs would not.

The only way this works is ranger smokes everyone so he is up front as the center of attention. If it were me I would have not let him stand up even for 3rd.

The absolute best ranger could hope to row is about 6.42 as a heavyweight. To do that, he would need to have a lapse into reason. Not likely.

He's not going to break any world records. Look 'em up. He can't reach 'em.

He deserves only the ignominy he has earned. He also deserves perfect silence the next time he ventures to post anything.

Good idea, let him spout his crap (including some wishy washy excuses for 7:02 (with breaks) at BIRC) on here and have NOBODY reply (that means you MvB and you HJS).

That was done on his UK blog. That was the trigger for his move back to this forum (when the attention from the naysayers dried up over there).

There's no excuse for being unsportsmanlike when the medal you've won isn't the gold. If I were C2UK I'd ban him from my competition for life.

I agree with your point of view but can you give one example of ranger being "sportsman-like"? I would be more likely to see a workout by ranger posted here.
