Ranger's training thread
Re: Ranger's training thread
The 100 race machines are divided into 3 race systems which are colour coded. Yellow = front 40 machines, Red = middle 40 machines and Green = back row of 20. Click here to see how the race machines are laid out and examples of the registration cards.

More interesting is him sitting next to Paul Wenham ... in the past he has a habit of giving up when the person near him has a lead ... not being able to rise to the occassion as it were.mikvan52 wrote:The 100 race machines are divided into 3 race systems which are colour coded. Re: Look Within
Funny, I always thought the exact opposite. A small part of me wondered if someone at C2 was paying ranger to keep making these posts. The thread is extremely entertaining, and he is unabashedly a supporter of C2 and its products. In fact, I came to these forums on a daily basis before buying my C2 for weeks ... not because I wanted to learn more about rowing, but because I wanted to see what Rich was up to. I probably would not have bought my rower until much later had I not got sucked into the drama of this thread ...jliddil wrote:Said it before and I'll say it again. I continue to wonder why C2 allows this thread and discussion. Again this a company that talks about full inclusion, adaptive rowing etc. It has a blog which support things like Ali Cox, promotes green business practices etc. They are releasing a new product. New people come along and see this and are alienated, I've heard this sentiment from more than a few people on other forums. And I am as guilty as anyone of contributing to this behavior.
Mr. Cureton has a certain online persona he seems to want to maintain or so it seems. This requires a certain amount of time and energy. To carry on day in and day out as he does is not something one can do without some work. Whether it is how he really is or is a front is not relevant. As he has shown even when people like Byran go out of their way to be helpful and not go to his level he publicly abuses them. Again why C2 allows this kind of discussion on their board is beyond me as from a marketing perspective I think it really does them no favors.

Re: Look Within
I think if you knew the history of ranger you might not think this ... looking back to his beginning and how the C2 process for selecting members of the USIRT team excluded him showed he was pretty bitter.luckylindy wrote:... and he is unabashedly a supporter of C2 and its products ...
If there were forums and competitions for steppers he would be gone so fast you would think he died!

Hardly.
I am here hanging out at the Crowne Plaza in Birmingham. Nice flight over; a couple of hours of jumping rope in the afternoon yesterday when I arrived, just to shake out the cobwebs, and then a wonderful pasta dinner before some TV and bed. Another hour of jumping rope this morning followed by an hour OTErg. I'll do a similar session this afternoon. Not much to eat this afternoon and tonight.
Weight is good; stroke feels great; should be a solid race tomorrow.
I'll rate 30 spm and see what happens.
I am now pulling 13 SPI, smooth as butta.
So I should be going along at 1:37.
BTW, 30 spm is just half the cadence I do when I jump rope, single-time, a skip a second, 60 skips a minute.
So I can race OTErg in my head when I am jumping rope, right on race pace.
Rowing at low drag, I now do 30 spm in a 3-to-1 ratio.
Leisurely stuff.
I was doing a lot of 1:40 @ 27 spm this morning here at the Crowne Plaza.
More of that this afternoon and tomorrow morning before I race.
At low drag (120 df.), 27 spm is even _more_ leisurely.
3.5-to-1 ratio?
Yikes.
That's a lot of rest between drives.
.5 seconds for the drive.
1.75 seconds for the recovery.

BTW, don't know if you heard, but about an hour after I landed in Birmingham yesterday (3:30 p.m.) a small plane crashed and burned on one of the runways of the Birmingham airport, shutting the airport down completely. Planes were diverted elsewhere, and every emergency vehicle and cop imaginable went screaming out to the scene past my cab, as I was making it into town to the Crowne Plaza. Did Nav make it here, or did he get diverted elsewhere? The crash was national news.

See previous page about air crash, dont overdue it now, you are supposed to rest a bit before a race!ranger wrote:BTW, don't know if you heard, but about an hour after I landed in Birmingham yesterday (3:30 p.m.) a small plane crashed and burned on one of the runways of the Birmingham airport, shutting the airport down completely. Nav made it into London Heathrow a few days ago, has been staying with Rocket Roy and will be heading to Birmingham by car.ranger wrote:Did Nav make it here, or did he get diverted elsewhere?

What is it about this thread and past participles?
Re: Ranger's training thread
Where is it posted in which Rich pulled 6:24 before leaving while stroking mildly?
But fun aside:
Good luck to all participants including Rich as well as NavHaz of whom I expect great things.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch,
haven't the bag pipers started to assemble to tune up for a dirge..?
It's time for a ceremonial playing of a youtube that holds the secret to ranger's erging success.
I hear you're going to place one of these by his erg on the arena floor next to the full quotient of water bottles.
"30 spm!", quoth the troll: "Andante!"... cooked just the way you like your pasta.
It's all in his head, for sure. Now for the demo.! Months of trolling has paid off: The BIRC site will be getting lots-0-hits come tomorrow....

I now pull 13 SPI at low drag (120 df.).
I have learned how to use my legs (and a full slide) in good timing with my core/back and arms, and now at low drag (120 df.), which makes the drive quite a bit "snappier," and therefore the recovery, longer
My stroke is now 30% stronger than it was back in 2002-2003, while my drive time is 40% shorter.
Lots of power; then lots of rest before the next application of power.
I am now rowing 1:37 @ 30 spm in a 3-to-1 ratio.
I now row well.

Erging grammarians? Who'd have ever thought it possible back when a certain generation spent a year diagramming sentences in elementary school. Youngsters on this thread are probably wondering what you're talking about!mrfit wrote:Steve G wrote: Has Roy took him out cycling
