Erging on a full stomach - not a good idea!
Erging on a full stomach - not a good idea!
Today I made the mistake of undertaking a workout immediately after lunch, which included a large glass of milk. My performance was dreadful, although I managed to keep everything on board! I am assuming that was why I felt so bad. Has anyone else had a similar experience or has any thoughts on what is a reasonable time to wait before going for a long stint on the erg?

Depends how much you've scoffed. But allow at least an hour.

3 or 4 hours for me or I find that I get reminded of what was eaten about half way through the 60min training row. Stomach grumbles but settles down again but it is a distraction you don't need. Certainly would avoid solids before speed work. Prefer a big gap in food and hydrate instead with the likes of Horley's Replace mixed half strength in a 750ml bottle about 30-60min before a row.Snail Space wrote:... or two, or three, if it is a reasonably full meal.Citroen wrote:Depends how much you've scoffed.
