Goal Pursuit

Post by Atorrante » June 1st, 2010, 9:59 pm

Talk about any goal you have in respect to time or distance challenge that motivate you. I have been a couple of times near the 8k mark for the 30' piece, but never has achieved it. The best i had done was 7923 a couple of years ago when I was 48. I'm again in pursuit of it, doing 7840's, and thinking that maybe can do it before my 53'th birthday at the end of this year. This is for now my main motivation to train.

Summer is always poor performances on the erg for me, so this year I'm trying a bit more lifting (and still erg 4 times a week minimum).. goal is to squat and dead lift 300lb.

Yes nice goal the 8000M in 30 minutes and it's one of mine this season as well, that and a Sub 7 2K.

The pace predictor has me currently at 8012M for the 30min and 7:00.6 for the 2K so it should be possible over the next couple of months after a bit more training.

The cooler weather here now makes quite a difference, surprising actually what a few degrees makes.

Will definatley get a great deal of satisfaction if I can acheive both of these.

100k in 7 (not minutes, but hours). A more immediate goal is to row more than once a week. It will probably take 3 or 4 rows a week to achieve the 100k goal. It would also be nice to get back to sub 7' 2k and 8000+ 30' . Even better would be 16000 in 60' (PB is 15749 nearly 7 years ago).

Today took a bite of a good chunk of meters toward my goal. Did 7907 meters in a 30' pace row, so I'm thinking can do the 8K sooner than I thought. It feels really good.. :D

Atorrante,
Wow  , those are great times (2k) and distance (30 min). Good luck on reaching your goal soon.

Sincerely,
David
