Crowdsourced find an indoor rower?

Post by eaglejackson » December 1st, 2009, 11:06 pm

Is there a site where users list places to row? I've found that the concept2 page for finding an indoor rower is quite incomplete. I don't know how they fill their database, but it has missed quite a number of places where I've found a concept2 rower.

Maybe something like a wiki or another site listed by geography where users input locations with rowers?

While I do not know how C2 does it's business, I do know that when purchasing from them, they ask whether you are an individual or a gym, etc etc. I have a feeling that their listings are limited as a gym will only purchase one ergometer, and order from C2 as an 'individual'.

I would also assume that some gyms have a second hand erg, therefore the original owner would be the person it is associated with, not the gym. Finally, it looks like C2 has a fairly detailed count of number of ergometers at locations (at least in Connecticut, my area), so I bet that locations will update C2 with their information. Many gyms don't give a damn about rowing, so they won't do anything. And a lot of the locations I've noticed are public schools or other places you cant just walk in and pay to erg.

Hope that helps,

For example, in Whistler, BC, there is a community rec center that has a number of concept2 rowers. But it's not listed on the concept2 find a rower site -- only the Fairmont Chateau Whistler hotel. So it would be nice to have a site where users update the info.
