first 2k in a while

Post by dlyubas » April 23rd, 2009, 8:35 pm

Hey so my last 2k was about a month and a half ago in march (6:58.6 1:44.6 split) and we have one coming up next week. We've been doing mostly technique and start/sprint work on the water and had a race recently and I have no idea how much i should try to lower my time. Any suggesstions? I was thinking in the 1:43 split range and I'm not sure if a 1 split second difference is too much or too little. Thanks

btw im 6'3 and 155-158 pounds and novice guy

A split of 1:44.6 is 306W. A split of 1:43.0 is 320W

If you think you can produce that much extra power for the best part of seven minute then go for it. You've got a distinct height advantage (and probably an age advantage) over me.

There's a website at http://www.machars.net that does all the maths to convert pace to watts (and a bunch of other stuff).
