Challenge to (other) fat people

Post by tom pinckney » November 26th, 2008, 6:48 am

Yep: in my ultimate goal to develop the "body that men fear and women love" (is this possible for someone that is 63 years old?) I will be (again) rowing over the holidays (goal for that is to not gain weight and perhaps lose a few pounds?). Then it's the winter challenge. During this period (same as last year which WAS accomplished) is to lose 30 pounds without starving and living a good lifestyle.

We can continue the other challenges while at the same time, post here as an incentive. Starts November 27 and ends January 31. All are "winners". I will put my daily statistics here starting November 27.

Who is with me?

I applaud your efforts!!
I will be rowing in the challenges and trying to keep those unwanted pounds off..and to perhaps shed a few that creep their way into my life :(
The holiday challenges are an excellent way to set goals and to achieve them.
I will be your cheering section ..row strong, enjoy the ride and row for the health of it!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks - I will also have my "training partner" - Blue Boy (I wrote about him before) with me for our daily walks, etc. He is a wonderful incentive.

Recently, a book (and now a movie to be released on Christmas Day) - Marley and Me (aka - the world's worst dog) was released. I think the author got it wrong - it should have been named "Blue Boy and Me" as I see a lot of similarities mentioned there that sound like "my training partner!"

For those of you that don't remember: "Blue Boy" was my 12 week old (six pound) English Cocker Spaniel. He is now approaching his first birthday (December 7) and is "topping out" at 27 pounds. Of course (like me) he has already gained too many pounds and at one point weighed 30! Yep - the walking program we both got on has resulted in less of us!! The vet recently commented: "I wish I had Blue Boy's wasitline!

I hope I will do as well - Happy Thanksgiving to all! - Tom

PS: I will post some photos of him soon at 12 weeks and now (almost a year old).

Awesome job! I just started rowing last January (delivered on the 30th), so I'm only at 300k right now.

I did cut out almost all sugar from my diet and reduced simple carbs (white bread). That, coupled with rowing at least 20k/month, I dropped 26 lbs in the last 3 months.

Keep up the great numbers!

Rob

Great progress Rob :D Your clothes must be getting pretty loose by now. I was still wearing the same ones after I dropped my first 30lb and did not realize how silly I was looking until I tried on some new ones --was just swimming in the old ones. Then I had to replace them again when I dropped another 30... How are the rest of you getting on with this?

26 pounds in three months! Awesome job. I'm taking a "breather" for a couple of days and eating a bunch of chocolate chip and Christmas cookies.

No more of that as of 1/1/09 (of course by then I will have eaten ALL of them). I did manage for a second year in a row to avoid gaining weight from Thanksgiving to Christmas.

Now it's time to get down to "fighting weight."

My goal for January: 620,000 meters plus, lift weights and eat properly. When one writes it down - they GOTTA do it. Best incentive of all.

You guys are doing great!

I work out 6 days a week. Row for at least 30-40 minutes each morning and weight train 2-3 days a week.

I have been doing that for at least 6 months. Have not dropped a pound.

I don't eat sugar as a rule- due to my fathers early death with diabetes. (he was only 43). We never had sugar.

Watch everything thing i eat, but still weigh in at 145lbs and I am 5'4.

I look good in my clothes and wear a size 8.(usa) - but still wish I could drop 15 lbls.

must be a woman thing!

Kind of like the idea of the whole body Woman admire and men die for!

kath
It's all Good!
