Vegetarian and Vegan Rowers - New Team

Post by timgo » January 3rd, 2015, 7:50 am

Are you a vegetarian or vegan rower?
Do you want to share dietary ideas for fellow rowers?
Do you want to share your training experiences as a veggie/vegan?

Please join me for the start of a new club that we can enter in online rowing events, share ideas and experiences, and promote this lifestyle choice. The Vegetarian and Vegan Rowers Team will exist to inspire and support people to embrace and maintain a vegetarian/vegan lifestyle, and prove that a veggie choice is the healthy choice.

If you're interested, let's get together and decide a team name, and enter the VTC. :D

About me:
My name is Tim Gudgeon-Osterritter (Tim GO for short). I've been a veggie since the age of 18 (26 years ago!), and turned full vegan earlier this year. I've always been active - football (soccer), distance running , cycling. Unfortunately, in the summer I was injured playing football, rupturing my cruciate ligament and tearing my meniscus. So my football days are over. But rowing is such a great hobby - no impact and great cardiovascular work. Just four months post op and I'm back rowing + cycling. Thank you Concept2!

Hi, Tim! I'll be happy to join your team for challenges, and I enjoy chatting with other veggies. I've been vegetarian for about 28 years. My affiliation team is Row Pain, Row Gain. I was a founding member (though I didn't vote for the name), so I feel the need to stay there for affiliation. RPRG isn't registered for challenges, though, so I latch on elsewhere for them.

Take care,
Bobbi

Fantastic, Bobbi! Many thanks for joining. We now have four members, so are officially listed in the VTC team table. Woo hooo!

Hi, I just joined free spirits, I liked their name, and they have a diverse group of ages and probably interests. I did not see your post, or I would have signed on with the vegetarian group, have been a vegetarian many years, used to be competitive runner when younger, much younger' am older and too short for rowing (4'10 1/2) but seems like good exercise. I am already in the VTC with the other group, but can switch next time if you want additional team members! Cynthia

Hi cls - that's a pity for us. Free Spirits looks like a great club, and I'm sure they will appreciate your kms! Perhaps next time :) All the best!
