Looking for a Team (I think)

Hi,
Just got a new model D with PM5 and while I had a model C with PM2, I’m really starting to get into the apps and data side behind rowing. It’s something I want to really concentrate and stick with and I think joining a team where I can talk to people and do challenges with them may be good for me.
But of background, I used to be a trail runner mainly, used to canoe a lot before I moved 5 years ago. Had an aim of a sub 17 5k which I managed today. Have previously done a FM in just under 2:50 years ago, but think I’ll mainly concentrate on shorter stuff, not saying I won’t do longer but only for the easier endurance training!
I guess a smaller active team may suit me better, any out there?
Thanks

Hi Andy, there are lots of active virtual teams. I row for Team Oarsome, who are on Facebook if you search for them, but there are a few really good options who are active on here too e.g Forum Flyers & Sub 7.
I think it might depend what you're after, as each team has subtle differences, and if you look at
www.c2ctc.com you will see how many possible teams there are.
With results like you have got, I'd say you'll be welcome in any team, but I'm not sure about the sizes of teams

Thanks for the reply.
Is there any sort of protocol for joining a team?
I am competitive, but that’s not the reason for me wanting to join a team at all. I just think it would be good to chat with guys, get involved in some friendly comps, banter and challenges and would help motivate me to improve.
I don’t care if I’m talking with people averaging 2:30/500 or 1:30/500, just so long as it’s active and can get some friendships and team spirit going.
Thanks

I don't think there is any protocol, and you can choose, more or less, whatever team suits you best. There are quite a few teams with a very good range of abilities, as we are all very inclusive.
I can't comment on what other teams are like, but I have found my team to be what you are after, but this forum, and Instagram, is probably a better source for all of that in my experience.

Hi Andy. the Forum Flyers are a virtual club welcoming people of all levels/experience and from all over the world. We are active in the C2 challenges as well as the CTC challenge each month and the Indoor rowers league. Our thread is here as well and there is a link to a members information document. We have been joined by many new members this year. Joining the ctc and just nominating the Flyers is a good place to start. It takes 2 steps to get in - a bit clunky. If you would like to join simply post to our thread and introduce yourself

Hey Andy. Forvm Flvers isn’t exactly chocabloc with sub-15’ 5Ks.
I guess if you force the issue, we’ll have to let you in.
I don’t usually say this but Team Oarsome might provide you with a bit more on the competitive motivation end. Talk to Stu (dangerscouse) b4 you decide.
