Looking for a 50-59 team
I’m in Dallas, TX.. been training for only a month but have logged 200K mtrs.. did 500 in 1:38.9 and can do 7000 mtrs in under 30 mins. Maybe that stinks but I’m getting better thank you, Bill

Re: Looking for a 50-59 team
I don't know of a team with a specific age group membership.
You could join one of the established teams such as the Forum Flyers - our thread is here on this sub forum. Wide range of ages and experience levels from all over the world. You would both be very welcome.

Re: Looking for a 50-59 team
Start your own team. Name your team Nifty Fifties or Stroke of 5, or . . . ? Recruit guys n dolls in their fifties. Adopt b&w bowling shirt as your colors. When you turn 60, join the Diamonds or start a Once We Were 50 or Where Did My Hair Go team.
Seriously, the Diamonds are all 60+. Nothing preventing you from setting an age group qualification with a door at either end.

Re: Looking for a 50-59 team
I guess I'm not understanding the "Challenges".
The "Spring Series VIII - April 6 to May 12" challenge looks interesting ( https://log.concept2.com/challenges/league ). The status on my page says:
Is the best way to participate in the Spring Series VII to:
- leave the Team Canada
- start a new team (and be the Team Captain)
- advertise here for members until I can fill one boat (8 people).
I believe, by reading the Forum Flyers post ( viewtopic.php?f=29&t=75382&start=2355#p490262 ) that I should reach out to the Team Canada leader. If this team is not that active in terms of these challenges, I can choose to join the flyers or some other team.
Thanks in advance for your patience.
Thanks (and sorry for being slow both in and out of the 'boat')
Doug.

I am currently on Team Canada ( https://log.concept2.com/team/2550/wec/2020 ). We are in the middle of the "World Erg Challenge - ends April 15" that is ongoing. If I leave the page says, "If you leave your team now, your meters will not be counted towards the current challenge.". I am one of over 900 members, so it is no big deal to leave.Status
You are not currently selected for a boat. Your captain might not finalise boat selection until after all athlete scores are submitted.

Re: Looking for a 50-59 team
Contact Team Canada skipper first. Ask how and when Spring VIII teams will be formed. I think you have seen Cap’n Slothful’s explanation of how and when he will proceed to fill seats in Forum Flyers’ Spring VIII boats. I wouldn’t throw away the WEC mileage if I were you.

Glenn for me it makes sense to join the Flyers here - doug will be there soon I suspect
There are a lot of members from all over the world and many "of a certain age" - you will be most welcome and can get involved in all the challenges

Hi Lindsay
thanks and apologies for not reverting sooner.
I used to row online quite a bit about 10-11 years ago, got out of the habit. thought i ought to get of my fat (ish) behind during our lockdown in the Uk and have been erging for a week, slowly at the moment.

Re: Looking for a 50-59 team
I like this idea, I'd be up for it!! Is it worth setting a team up, would we have any takers or have they gone to Forum Flyers?!! 50-59 and Row, Ski or Bikerg?jackarabit wrote: ↑April 1st, 2020, 10:19 amStart your own team. Obvious to me it’s a grand plan FF has been getting a good intake of new members so I’d say run with it while the CoVi makes for an ample pool of recruits. Good luck, Taff!

I'd be up for joining a new team if we can get a few others. Nothing against existing established teams but adds to the competition.warnie wrote: ↑May 8th, 2020, 11:18 amI like this idea, I'd be up for it!! However I wouldn't qualify for the 50-59 without a triple elixir of youth, and I just row so hope others give it a try.
Warnie hope you can get some momentum to this.
I am down the M4 in Pembrokeshire but don't need the bilingual copy just the language used on the forum
Any other takers?
