How to create private group of training partners?

Post by cek » March 29th, 2020, 8:32 pm

I'm new to the online logbook and want to be able to set up a team (or a private group) of training partners where we can track and compete internally among ourselves or work toward a challenge together. For example, eight or so people from my gym want to all become training partners and have a team or group page in the logbook where we can all track our individual progress, relative to each other, toward each rowing a certain number of meters in April. Or even just be able to see our individual running totals for the month.

It seems simple and like a thing that the logbook should be able to do, but I can't see how. Is it doable?

Thanks for any help,
-Carrie

Write an email to info@concept2.com and ask them to create your team for you.

I think you can just do it all online through the logbook, i.e. create your own Team and manage it.
You can make it a closed team so you control membership.

Concept2 have also announced a new Spring VIII's challenge for teams that might be on interest: https://log.concept2.com/challenges/league

Thanks for the responses. I created a team, but I don't see how we can do anything other than participate in Concept 2's global challenges. What I'd like to do is have our own challenges and leaderboards for those. Too much to ask?

If you want just to watch, and be watched, by a select group of people, have them all give each other the "ranking ID" found in your logbook profile and set up "training partners". You can then see every other person's logbook, complete with comments (added manually if using ErgData).

I set up just such an arrangement for a virtual row from point A to point B. We all can see how everyone else is doing along the journey, as long as they make a comment in their logbook about "where" they are on the map (we're using Google maps). We launch our "boats" tomorrow, should be fun.

There is probably a way to do that more elegantly than just viewing each other's logbooks, but I'm not enough of a computer geek to write the code to do that.

Create a topic in this teams thread with your team name that everyone can contribute to, with daily updates. Some teams use Facebook.

The only way other way I know of is to create an affiliation. This is separate to a team. You can belong to both a team and an affiliation.
To create a new affiliation just email concept2. On your logbook profile just select the affiliation once created.
This will show everyone in the affiliation and give running total and leader board. Meters however get reset each season on line with rest of logbook. You'll still need to create own challenges outside of the logbook though.

Do that with a Faceborg, Discord, Houseparty (or other social media) group.

Or, dare I say, it a team thread on here.
