Are there ANY currently active members on the site?
I'm 71 and have just clicked to join the team, but there doesn't seem to be much activity.
Should I join another team or plod on?
(I'm affiliated to Royal Engineers, being ex Armoured Farmer, but am flexible
)

i thought it was just a secondary affiliation used for the military challenge (Feb)
adding an armed forces affiliation adds the meters to both during that event..
pfff... armoured farmer.
<- amphibious rule the waves...
REspect...

I moved my affiliation to the Royal Engineeers, but there are 2 teams. RE's + RE Rowers, so I'm sticking where I am now.
Dean, it looks nice enough country down by Múnchen, but not many Rubber Ducks in the area.
Driving around our area, I came across one that was parked up in a lay-by and had a good old nosey around to see if it was one I nearly sank, but all tac signs were removed.
I just paddle for general fitness now and it's good to be able to wake up in a morning.

yes, moved to münchen after joining civvie street back in '94. most of my time in green was spent listening to the pied piper in hameln (hamlin), a big change from the north east - do miss the sea a little.
think i more or less placed explosives on every main bridge in germany, during this or the other excersize... funnily - not much call for that as a civvie.. at least not in the non-turban wearing countries...
If i'm sculling under a bridge i still sometimes think about structual damage and where would be the best places to stick some c4 or if i was lucky some shaped charges...

It certainly taught you a lot. I learnt how to drive my tank up to a river, build a bridge across it, get over the river and blow the bridge up afterwards. As you say, no call for that in this part of the world.
3 shots from the flying dustbins of the AVRE were enough to get rid of the need for shaped charges.

hahaha...
i did a demonstration for the queens visit to boar in '92.
Big event, I was the safety officer on the water (non tac
)
Highlight was a CET crossing the weser then on the other side it was to launch a GV*
funnily someone forgot to conect the gv to the tail... we did find the rocket in a farmers field a few km away...
not sure liz noticed something was wrong...
Giant Viper for the non informed - its a rocket with a 200m explosive tail - used for clearing minefields

Served in a T.A regiment 87 to 93 a good chunk of that time as a Sustained Fire platoon. Spent time on Ascension Island.
But mostly infantry stuff on Salisbury Plain. Think I could navigate that place in the dark without map and compass as spent so much time there.
