Yes, I watched it earlier this year. Loved the scenery, and the concept, but, Charlie was a real jerk (and is/was in prison, for fraud) and Kevin SO didn't want to be there. I didn't feel bad, in my climate controlled living room, after all, they had a masseuse, a doctor, a cook, et al ... until they got to Libya, then I got concerned.

Kept my attention, which is more than I can say about "Dinner For Schmucks." I had to ditch that after a half hour, yesterday. (I liked the original French version.) Always looking for movie recommendations to watch while I row. (Who knew that "The Social Network" had rowing in it!)
They weren't the most likeable group. Any way you slice it, what they did was an amazing accomplishment.

We stream a lot of Netflix, but we tend to go for ones that my nearly 4 year old daughter will like. You might like Broken Hill if you like music. A high school kid who dreams of being a music conductor. The movie is set in the Australian Outback. The other movie that we watched recently that was decent was Saint Ralph about a troubled boy that becomes a marathon runner.

BigBrett58 wrote:Ron, looks like you should be on page 1 on the Annual Meter Board by tomorrow. You're really moving. I'm going make you work to beat me in this competition. Now that it's the weekend, I can keep pace with you for a few days. I've hoping for another Civil War reenactment to build a lead again. :lol:
I was watching the Team Standings page, saw that Ron passed you again and figured that you were cursing to yourself, hoping for another weekend activity for Ron. :)

Either way, both of you are doing incredible numbers (as is the whole team really) and you make me jealous. I did my first actual 60m set piece this morning (as well as another 2k to get to 15k total) and I'm exhausted. I know I'm still new at this, but as of right now I'm still in awe of the performances I see on the board. :mrgreen:

I've been listening to Pandora mostly, but I've also watched some Battlestar Galactica recently. I may drag the rower upstairs tomorrow so I can stream video to the big screen while I row. More fun that way and an easier way to keep an eye on the kids while I'm rowing.

Good morning Luna-tics from a wet and windy Sunday morning in Sydney...perfect Erging weather! Today we are celebrating my father-in-law’s 97th birthday! He truly is 97 years young... B)

And I was just going through the challenge board and there are some great efforts being clocked up, especially from the luna-tics, and I would like to say it is great to see so many adaptive rowers on our team; to those who have just joined (please stay on the year-round team), and to our all-year round adaptive rowers, I’d just like to say thanks for the inspiration you provide! :D

Cheers, BBB (Big Bad Baz!)

WOW! Way to go Brett! That's roughly 60k today. Hope you have a comfy seat and some good shows to watch. :lol:

You moved up to the #2 spot in the individual rankings. Very impressive!

I do have a question though for those who row long distances. What kind of 500m splits do you pull on average during that type of distance? I'm assuming you're not racing and taking it relatively easy after all. There's no way you could do it otherwise is my guess.

Thanks. I'm sure I'll be back in 4th or 5th place in another few hours.

Prior to this competition, I'd typically maintain around a 2:10 500m split for 10k. Today, I rowed 6 10ks with average splits between 2:19.1 and 2:22.7.

I'm so, so, sorry James. That's just horrible. My 36 year old brother in law had a stroke about a month ago. My sister is a stay at home mom with 4 kids. I was so worried about what would've happened if she lost him. It doesn't seem to make sense when young people have these types of serious medical problems. My family will being praying for your family as you grieve the loss of your sister in law.

I had to memorize this Bible verse for Sunday school when I was around 10 years old. Throughout my life, it's brought me comfort in times of sadness. It reminds me that I'm not alone in the tough times of life and that there is life after death.

Psalm 23
A Psalm of David.

The LORD is my shepherd,
I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside quiet waters.
He restores my soul;
He guides me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I fear no evil, for You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You have anointed my head with oil;
My cup overflows.
Surely goodness and lovingkindness will follow me all the days of my life,
And I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

I think it's tough to accept any of these losses, much less make sense out of them. You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers.

Fall Team Challenge: Thru Day 10 of 31

You and your erg...time in the seat, so to speak! Some amazing stories being played out with the numbers beside each name - we have FIVE Lunies who are in the top 15 of all the individual rowers in this Challenge. It is the whole collection of "you and ergs" (youse, in NY language :lol: ) that makes this team what it is - and we are rockin' and rowin'. The support this team is providing each other is unusually strong. Erging is a solitary exercise for the most part - and in a seat without a view (depending upon where you're set up, of course). That we can turn our solitary meters into a journey as fanciful as rowing to the moon and back with a virtual boat full of real live teammates seems pretty incredible. May the team "force" continue to be with us!
