Well by the looks of the National weather map, the whole team sweat it out this week! :o This was a hot week for all of us!

We are in the 6th day of a 7-day heat wave here in NH. While still uncomfortably humid, it's not oppressively humid like it was last week. Still, I am taking today off from rowing as we are due to exceed 100 degrees today. I hope to make it up Sunday if I am not too lazy, as the cooler and drier weather should arrive then and stay for a week.

My goal is to hit 1,000,000 meters by the end of the month, and maintaining the 1:52/500m pace I have become accustomed to.

Stay cool, Team!

Best of luck today to teammate Mark "The Blacksmith" Emig, who is rowing in the Blackburn Challenge today, off the coast of Cape Ann, Mass! Any race description that includes the phrase "Always plan an “escape” path to safety" is his kind of event! Row strong and be safe, Mark!

I haven't posted for a while now, and thought I'd give an update. My son Kai and I competed in the Blackburn Challenge Saturday July 20th. We were in the work boat doubles class. 5 hours 13 minutes 15 sec. Utterly brutal race. 95 degrees, tide running the wrong way. Once we got throught the channel at Straitsmouth Island (halfway) we got a 15 knot headwind, and 2-3 foot rolling seas. 1-1/2 miles from the finish we got a big lightning storm-scary. But, we finished. Got first place in our class (only cause there was 2 boats in our class and 1 did not finish).
