Did I ever tell you guys the story about the time I drove a trailer full of boats to a regatta, raced my first Henley style event, and lost to a guy with a 32 second handicap by exactly 32 seconds? If not, now you have my last race update. It was actually a lot of fun. I go to Oklahoma City, a US Olympic Training Site, for the Stars & Stripes Regatta next weekend. It is another 1km sprint.

Spent the Week in Fla doing all kinds of different events..... But I should did miss my workouts I will be able to row this week, but I am sorry to say that I will be down for at least another week off....Starting on the 29th of Jun until the 6th of July.... But I will work to get some extra long rows in this week to try and get us back in standings... arrrrrrrgh I am so sorry...... :-( I really am missing my long rows.... tonights row felt great......

We're always trying to balance between intruding & encouraging, and Lisa & I were trying to figure out what happened...

Good heavens man, everyone needs some time off! Enjoy yourself! You'll catch up in no time... Wait, catch up to whom? You're still ahead of Jim by 350k...

My numbers so far for the season have been abysmal, due to construction that was going on, and now home projects (painting bathrooms and laundry room, landscaping.....) that are taking up a lot of time. It is what it is.

Honestly, aside from maybe the first week of the season, this is the closest I've ever been to David. And he could take another month off and he'd still be ahead of me!

My times dropped precipitously these past two days (to a 1:53/500m pace), and I realize it's extremely hot and muggy here, but I was scratching my head as to why? Am I not eating right? Not getting enough rest? Then a few minutes ago I remembered I gave blood Friday afternoon! That's got to be it (along with the weather). Oh well. No good deed goes unpunished, as they say.

Row strong, team!

I never take anything you or Lisa say or ask as intruding that is for sure.. I feel nothing but encouragement from you both and the rest of the team.... I will get some rows in this week but I will be taking another week off next I realized one thing today... that is that blisters come back fast once you stop rowing LOL oh well.... Thanks Guys and Gals..... heading to see to the bats in the kayaks tonight down under the congress street bridge in Austin TX.

Half Marathon Quest

Post by mathineer » June 27th, 2013, 7:35 am

For some reason I have decided to build up to and complete a half marathon on the erg. No, don't try to talk me out of it! Plan is to build a base, and then take two rows a week and start building up the distance on those. A "long" row on the weekend, and a "mid" length row mid week. Otherwise I'll hang around 5K/day.
