Hi All! Congats on any accomplisments I missed over the past month or two. And welcome to any new member. If you recall, my boathouse's dock was stolen by the Housatonic River during the flooding conditions of early March. We have been rowing out of a temporary location for about a month now. This weekend we put the finishing touches on our dock. Soon I will be back rowing out of my own boathouse. Yippie! Thanks for letting me share my good news.

Favorable cosmic winds are blowing....get on the erg! It will be easier today !

Image

While out for a 5K in a local park on Sunday, I spotted this happy retriever carrying a really big stick - had to snap the photo! To paraphrase our teammate Harold, "not my dog, but looks much like one of mine, I think!" :D

And BTW (sort of a bunny trail), many of us have heard of the quote attributed to US President Teddy Roosevelt "walk softly and carry a big stick." Turns out this is a misquote. The actual quote, from TR writings, is 'I have always been fond of the West African proverb: "Speak softly and carry a big stick; you will go far." ' So now we know.

Fireworks in the skies over our Rowing Universe as the team meter total crosses the SEVEN million meter mark! Way to row, team!

How's TOmO...could question! I tried to coax him up yesterday, but to no avail, although I think he is a chance today after doing his martial art class, usually full of beans...but we'll see! :)

Must say I've cut back from 20,000M a day to 15,000M plus a couple more 'off days' since I starting weight training again, just to give some recovery time... But slowly getting the times down!

Good to hear that Tomo is doing okay - not pushing for rowing meters - just checking after what sounded kind of like a concussion. It's the season for many to be doing some cross-training. It's all good!

No, all good on that front...in fact he played Rugby on the weekend, and he was in there boots and all....not to mention the jumping on the trampoline. We'll see how he goes today....he enjoys it when he does it...

But my challenge is to encourage Janet to 'sign' up for the journey... The last we spoke about it she chuckled, shook her head and said; you slide back and forward at the rate of up to 30 times per minute but don't go anywhere, you are strapped in and can't get out, its cold in the garage (I stopped myself from saying it depended on the season, sometimes it's as hot as hades), your Ipod only has heavy rock on it (doesn't everyone's?) and she said she is sure the contraption was modelled on a medieval torture device (I could see she had a point on that one)....but being a salesman of sorts, I'm taking this as a 'I need more information' before I decide!
