Way to row, Team! Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there. Today we are celebrating - both boys and hubby are doing the big spring cleaning of the whole house while I knock out my marathon row. Sure beats standing in a long line at a restaurant if you ask me! Many thanks to my great family!

Jan, that knockout pic really captured the feeling. That last 2000 meters was a bear - I didn't dare get off the seat for fear I just couldn't get back on.

One note of encouragement, though. I really think the body retains conditioning for what ever it is we put it to. I don't have hip flexor issues at all on the marathon rows, but I do remember having this issue on my first one a few years ago. I find the same thing happening on the running marathons - every year there is a degree of conditioning "memory" that makes the current year better than before - but then again, I am not pushing for faster times in any of these endurance events, so I am not having issues of body breakdown due to too much training or stress. Slow and steady - if I can complete my event with less pain than the previous year then I have trained, strategized, and worked my plan well - and that is success for me. But I really envy those who are able to do their endurance event is just a few hours, and be done with it even before I reach the half-way mark.

And Danno sums it up perfectly, congratulations to all the marathoners’ and half-marathoners’, a great effort by all.

Whilst I aim for 20K a day I don’t usually do the set marathon distances, but I take my hat off to all who do. It isn’t just a physical thing as it requires the right mental attitude! As that famous movie star from Monsters Inc (Sully) said, I’m in the zone... I’m sure you need to be ‘in the zone’ for the marathon challenge (I’ve watched it a zillion times – was TomO’s favourite at one time  )

TomO took a bit of a knock at Rugby on Saturday, managed to get through his birthday party on Saturday afternoon, got Mum a cup of tea in bed on Sunday, but it caught up with him the last couple of days. I’m hoping he’ll be back in a day or two, but you never know. And he was thrilled at all the birthday wishes he received from fellow Luna-tics!

Cheers, BBB

It's all about the journey...and not just the shortest distance between two points...which is a really good thing!

SUMMERRRR....can't get here soon enough! Put your rowing machine out on the porch, the deck, the balcony (seatbelts are advised)!
