:o Such blasphemy!

On that note, I just received my C2 long-sleeved sweatshirt and pin for passing 5 million meters lifetime. (Lifetime being the last 450 days). Averaging ~80K per week for the last ~64 weeks.

I don't know how David and Kyle do it putting up the meters they do, but those guys are rowing rock stars.

Believe it or not, I didn't go for the 2MM last night. Instead, I broke the Wolverine Plan rule of "Never row the other guy's workout."
A few hot rowers from Britain were doing 3 x 2,500m pieces with about 5 minutes in between. I didn't know, but there was a world record holder on that row (62yo LW called "Rocket Roy").
Officially, I did the 2500s in 9:23.1, 8:59.5 & 9:11.5. But, the first one was started between 25 & 30 seconds late, because my RowPro screen disappeared and it took some time to get it back up on my screen - so it was probably two sub-9s. It took a 2K cool down and a 500m to hit my 10K minimum row... Ouch!
I finished :15s behind Rocket Roy in the first piece (even giving them a head start of over :25s), and led the final 2 pieces. I’m satisfied but sore.

That 29 and change is from a few days rows.
I have some questions on training that someone might be able to help on. I've read the wolverine plan thing, and saw about the specificity part. I am doing the Blackburn again this year-20 plus miles open ocean. I am doing it in a fixed seat single. Is the wolverine plan right for me? I had my doubts as it is designed (by my understanding) to be for 2k races and such-what I am doing is marathon like distances. Any suggestions???

Very cool. I saw Rocket Roy's name in an article on World Rowing's site. I think he's part of a small group that battle each other for world records pretty regularly. Congrats!

It is designed for 2k's. The L1 and L2 workouts aren't going to do you much good, but the L3 and L4 workouts should be good for you. Perhaps you drop the L1 & L2 and lengthen the L3. I'd do the L4 as described.

You might still have trouble with the target paces on the L3. You can row an L3 or L4 for as long as you want, but the target paces might be too aggressive if you are going to row for much longer periods of time. I'd still give it a try and see if you can slowly increase how long you row an L3 without sacrificing pace.

I'm thinking that you wouldn't want to extend the L4. You spend a lot of time working up the stroke rate and building power. It will be hard to add distance/time and increase stroke rate at the same time.

This is really getting complicated. You might do better to follow the marathon plan.

Mark, I'll try to answer you over the next week, but here's a link to the official C2 Training Guide, towards the bottom they discuss programs for 80K & 110K marathons:

rehab Is going slow. It's hard to tell if i am regaining any muscular strength yet. There still residual numbness and pain,Hopefully the herniation is resolving, And as that occurs the pressure on the nerve will be relieved. But it isn't as if there's a roadmap.I just have to keep on working and see what happens. I added recumbent bike-Easy and low resistance-It's a balancing act between not doing enough and doing too much. There is still the possibility That surgery will be necessary...But before I go that route I will work my ass off, so to speak. So long as you see meters from my log,It means I am alive and kicking and rowing.

Sounds like finding the balance point is difficult... I sure hope you can avoid surgery. Good luck, and we're in your corner! :)
