Check out the final stats for the team challenge we just had in January...

http://log.concept2.com/team/virtual/vtcstats13.asp

Two people each rowed 2.6million meters = 84,000meters/day... What a high bar to have! So inspiring! :!:  :)

I can't even imagine how that is physically possible. That's about two FMs a day. I know Darlene Brennan always ranks top in meters in challenges for women. As far as I know, she never gets off the erg!

Izzzmeister: I started at 1 but am now at 3. These 600 or so meter rows are warm up rows on days that I do 500 kettlebell swings. In February I am doing a 10,000 Kettlebell Swing challenge so my rowing is suffering. But I am doing longer rowns on Tue and Thur when I rest from swings.

If I were doing that, it wouldn't just be my rowing that would suffer! Pretty much every muscle fiber and iota of connective tissue. Not too mention my husband would suffer since I'd be so bitchy from being sore!

It is BRUTAL but I am determined. If I can do 1 or 2k on off days and 600-800 on swing days I will be happy and then in March I want to do some sort of erg challenge to get that going full swing.

Apparently she's 69 years of age. What a whole new level of fitness to row two marathons a day for 31 days.... Now that feels like an Everest goal! :D :!:

I do kettlebell swings because they're a similar motion to rowing, but I use 53 pounds (1 1/2 poods), and do 20-25, would like to get up to 75 or so, get more explosive.

WOW that is some weight. I am just starting all of this after about 8 months of doing nothing after my Everest Base Camp Trek. I am trying not to jump in and over do and then get hurt or burned out. I love my C2 and my Bells!

The next team challenge will be the World Erg Challenge, starting mid-March. Most team challenges you have to do a "click to join" kind of thing, but I don't think Concept 2 has set it up yet. Don't worry, Izz or I will post something to the team (most likely multiple reminders! ), so you won't miss out! Kudos to you for all the enthusiasm!

In the meantime, there is an individual challenge starting SOON!! See the next post. This probably won't work into your kettlebell challenge, but pay attention, rest of the team!

I saw this but with a 500 a day kettle bell challenge underway all of February, I am not sure I can swing both...no pun intended. But if I DO do it, I will have to row for my cute little schipperke puppies...... :)
