On the 24th my wife and I are expecting our 2nd child and I'll be with her at the hospital. If I complete two days worth of 10k daily meters before the 30th, am I still eligible for completing the 10k m March Madness Challenge even though I didn't do 25 days straight?

Yes, congratulations on the new baby!

Hey Ron,
Sorry I missed your 3 MM milestone. What an achievement!! The winter storm warning issued for your area must be you on the erg!! :D Congratulations - and you must have either conquered or decided to put up with your knuckle pain problem - maybe both.

Battle of the Ergs: Day 7/8

Post by Kona2 » March 21st, 2011, 10:32 am

It's a beautiful day in our rowing neighborhood.....and team members have rowed amazingly over the weekend to bring in the meters. Double woot! And thanks for YOUR contribution in this virtual Challenge! And for what we're about to receive...bigger thanks! :D Happy happy happy !!

2675 individuals competing as members on 207 teams have generated 80 MM meters in one week. As incredible as this meter count is, there are hundreds and maybe thousands of individuals listed on team rosters who haven't had an opportunity to contribute any meters just yet....and until an individual adds meters, that person doesn't show up in the total count - which is why the total count might look a bit low at this stage of the challenge. Imagine what that meter count COULD look like if the planets all aligned for everyone to seize the rower handle and generate some meters!!

Thanks to all for rowing as part of our team!

Hold your breath, Kona2. I have not yet begun to fight...er row! (John Paul Jones). I had to cut my rowing short this morning in order to take Kathy (my wife) to the surgery center where she will undergo rotator cuff repair. After I bring her home, I will move the erg to the bedroom so I can complete my 2 mm next to her :D.

Battle of the Ergs: Day 9/10

Post by Kona2 » March 23rd, 2011, 10:42 am

Image Speedy recoveries and best outcomes wished for Lyn and Kathy....sending positrons!

Image 94 Teammates!

We're now one-third of the way through the Battle of the Ergs Challenge...taking good advantage of the favorable Galactic Winds! Way to row, Luna-Tics! We're not fooled into thinking that the Galactic Gauntlet that started the battle with a thwack! is lying in a corner, all dust-covered...no....it might be dormant...lying in wait for a team to upload a boatload of meters en masse....

Wowzer - if your total meters rowed thus far exceeds 85,000 m (and we have 15 people in that group), then you're in the top ten percent of the overall Concept2 individual competitors. Hmmmmn .... maybe there's a personal goal for the challenge...be in the top ten percent overall? Great that each team challenge provides an opportunity for us to show what we can do as a team, as well as individuals within a team! Woot !

Thanks to all who are rowing with the team - and finding ways to fit rowing into your day - even when those days are challenging!!

I've gotta admit that "Along comes Mary" flies straight over my head, but I'm happy for the welcome!

I just bought my concept2 a couple of weeks ago and am pretty stoked to have it. I rowed for a semester in college (before I wimped out and didn't want to do early morning practices... even though I loved the sport), so I know this is the perfect way to drop some baby weight and get back in shape. Yay rowing!
