I believe it was Henry Knox who brought the cannon 300 miles to Boston from Fort Ticonderoga.

Must confess that although I know of Ft Ticonderoga, my first thought when I hear the word "Ticonderoga" is of my fav pencils....! Great to have some history buffs on the team! And, thinking back on yesterday, not often that I see the words "ephemeral" and "synchronicity" - good stuff!
Our pot of gold brimmith over! March Madness is definitely a zany challenge...and then to go overlap the challenge with the Battle of the Ergs....could make us live up to our team name, it could!

Welcome to all our new and returning team members! Thanks for rowing with us in this last team challenge of the 2011 Rowing Season! So far, 1575 rowers (that seems like a really low number for a team challenge, but maybe everyone is feeling a little too challenged....or their families are! ) are signed on the the overall challenge .... and we have 8 team mates in the top ten percent!
Every meter counts....and it's always best to get out ahead quickly (there's strategy to this)....so don't wait too late to contribute some meters....every meter counts.....every meter counts!

All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 3.16.11
The Madness Continues....Day 17
We continue to be well represented on the March Madness Challenge Boards with 36 teammates participating in the overall Challenge, and 22 Lunies in the 10K+ Challenge. Keep going....keep going....keep going!
In all the Madness of yesterday, completely neglected to mention that it was St Urho's Day....a grand celebration for Finns and Minnesotans that occurs each 16 March to celebrate the Great Grasshopper Drive out of Finland...to save the grapes! Similar to St Patrick's Day, it involves much celebration, parades, and colorful costumes...although St Urho's color is purple. What caught my eyes was the traditional poem that goes with St. Urho's Day...I will be remembering this first line in my sleep...
Ooksie kooksie kollme vee
Santia Urho is the boy for me
He chase out the hopper as big as pirds
Never before have I heard those words
He really told those bugs of green
Bravest Finn I ever seen
Some celebrate for St. Pat and his snake
But that Urho boy got what it takes
He got tall and strong on feelia sour*
And ate Kalla Mojakkaa** every hour
Thats why that guy dould chase those beetles
That crew as thick as jack pine needles
So let's give a cheer
in our very best way
On the sixteenth of March
St. Urho's Day!
* sounds like yogurt
** some type of fish soup

But that Urho boy got what it takes
He got tall and strong on feelia sour*
And ate Kalla Mojakkaa** every hour
Thats why that guy dould chase those beetles
That crew as thick as jack pine needles
So let's give a cheer
in our very best way
On the sixteenth of March
St. Urho's Day!

To celebrate, maybe we should change the team name to "Italiatics" and row to Rome and back again. While there were could sample a few of their fine adult beverages?macbruce1 wrote:Today is also the 150th anniversary of the unification of Italy

Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.
Hard to believe but the weekend is upon us again, well on this side of the date-line at least. And no little athletics this Saturday as season is over, as much as I enjoy it! So TomO and I will try and get out on the water in the kayaks, at least until rugby season starts.....
Good weekend to all, row strong, and might even have that stout I’ve been promising myself, given it was St Pat’s Day yesterday, and still is somewhere in the world!
Cheers, BBB

Hi team,
I just want to say thank you for all the motivation this board gives! I wanted to go by 1,000,000 slowly to reflect on what I have rowed since I started in December. I am in awe of the numbers our team member puts up and also other rowers on the board.
