Congrats to so many milestones. 21 million for Danno - that's incredilble. To continue even with no more prizes to claim.
I'm feeling much better, up to 20 minutes /day trying to do 4 days per week. Slowly I will build up to where I was. AND no more speeding thru workouts. Speed kills even on the erg. This side of 50 requires adequate warm up. Neither fair nor fun, but as they say IIWII.
We finally made it to the moon. I wore my C2 million meter t-shirt and 2 million meter socks for the occaision. I will enjoy our tour of the lunar surface and then think we should return to base. Missing Moose and Rae. Noticed on Facebook that today 3/3 would have been Moose's birthday- good day to leave a plaque in his memory & honor. It was Chris's mom who was 1k/day Rae. My mom encouraged me but never rowed herself.
Thank you again to Kristine for getting us going and Jan for keeping the stats. It's been so interesting getting to know people from around the world!

All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 3.3.11
Yes, Ron has sent me down a bunny trail of the mind....although I must admit that I first wondered if Ron was surrounded by cows in Vermont, and now knowing he is lactose intolerant, that he'd gotten into the ice cream after all as a last desperate measure! Oh the drama! Good one, Ron - I'd forgotten that "Rick" was Bogart...or Bogart was Rick. Most of us have heard the "play it again Sam" or "here's looking at you, kid" taglines. But Bogart is actually what pitched me down this morning's bunny trail....specifically, where the phrase "don't bogart that" or "don't be a bogart" came from. One of my golden retrievers is a bogart...takes whatever stuffed toy from the other retriever, and just does not share. While there may be a couple of different versions of "bogart", some say it originated from Humphrey Bogart being seen frequently with a cigarette in his mouth - where he held onto it for a long time....so a bogart hangs on to stuff, doesn't share well...and now you know...oh, and one more thing, are we expatriates or just explorers while we're on the moon....a whole new bunny trail....
Meanwhile, the main astrogation computer has blown up...although assurances made that it will be truly bionic after repairs are conducted. That said, using our moon map, we have completed our trek across the Sea of Serenity from Tranquility Base, and are working towards our next destination (unfortunately the individual graphics are stored on the not yet bionic device).
Woohoo! The team definitely has its Irish on - and has made it to Friday (or Saturday depending on your location in the rowing universe). There are currently 3940 rowers on the March Madness overall progress board, and 1638 on the 10K board....lot of our team members are there! Not too late to sign on for this individual challenge - we have six grace days where no rowing has to occur in order to stay on the boards....use them wisely (past experience says you will have THOSE days where you just can't fit rowing in...and it's ever so nice to have a "hall pass" to skip without dire consequence!)

Elias (age 6) got on the erg today to "help us come back" form the moon. I guess we know what his vote is for our next stop.

Yeah, Jane, I was thinking the same thing. Maybe no need to open a poll as the team has run through the options here, and the vote seems to have shifted that way. What do you think, Team, should we open a poll or not? The one factor that we can't control is who votes in our poll - we can't restrict it to only our teammates, so the potential for people not on our team to cast a vote is likely.

All In A Day's ERG: Team Progress Thru 3.4.11
What dedication! What good rowing! 36 percent on the erg on a Friday/Saturday....hooboy, must be a challenge going on! Maybe today there'll be a virtual gathering at the Sham Rock! Rock on Lunies!
To Poll Or Not To Poll ....
My nickel's worth on the poll is that I agree that we've pretty much conducted it here - and everyone has had an opportunity to weigh in over the last few days. Looks conclusive that we're missing Earth...folks want to meet the original objective of to the moon AND back. Not to say that we won't venture into another area...so, while we await the Captain's decision on this, would like to point out that by going back to earth, we could meet most of the objectives offered as alternatives such as La Grange points (I think that's what I read..), stopping at the ISS, landing in the Aussie arena...
Btw, I heard from Jim K , who is having sympathy computer issues...appears that his motherboard was zapped, and he's working on getting that bionic computer, too. He'll be back in the commentary soonest!

Happy!
Thousand Metres to Allie!
Enrage: That sounds like troublesome work trying to get floor laminate down, but good job on the ten k
K2: I completely get that urge to have 0's at the end of the total, my 5 in there is enough to bug me "must... get... 4... zero's"

I have always found it is better to row first, and then tackle the day's work, just like you did. Good job! Those projects that seem so reasonable always take way longer than expected, eh?enrage wrote:just finished my 10k meters for the day. had to attempt to install floor laminate in one of the bedrooms today. only managed to get a 1/4 of the room finished.
