After 6 months rowing on used and abused Model D's at the local area gyms, I purchased a new D this week. I still have a D at home, and a C in Iraq. This means I now own 3 units.

Wilbury, it sounds like happiness increases in direct proportion to the number of rowers you own (and use). I just got my first and I can't imagine being any happier.

We celebrate many things here as team members; most of those things are all about the numbers of meters we row. What we're really celebrating is how we go about getting those meters - sometimes with enthusiasm, sometimes by slogging through it all, sometimes with delight that we conquered another milestone. It's not too much of a stretch to suggest that how we go about our virtual rowing life is a reflection of how we go about our real world lives.

Our teammate Ray did not survive his accident. Our hearts and prayers go out to his family in this loss. Ray only posted a couple of items - one prior to going on his training, and one cheering us on while he was in training. In both of those postings, he said that the training would be helpful in his work although he would miss his wife and new baby very much during the two weeks he would be away. We knew Ray only as a devoted dad and husband - and the kind of teammate who put his all into a challenge.

Even though I am sure that we all try to share some of the Luna-Tics rowing lore with our families and friends, I'd bet that most cannot truly appreciate the level of friendship and support that this virtual team provides. Ray was one of the good guys that we hoped to see for many seasons.

When accidents happen and take away friends and family, it's hard to see the "why" in the grand scheme of things. It is difficult to accept that someone has just winked out of existence. We have lost a valued teammate, and will remember his passion for life and family. And we celebrate the kind of life he lived.

Thanks Jan for putting it so beautifully. I admired him for the training he was doing. My thoughts and prayers are with his wife and new baby!

Wil......A bit like Landrover Defender's, you can never have enough of them (I've got two - for now! and there was silence the other day when Janet told me two is enough ), but anyway I was trying to work out where you've put the third ERG, one in Iraq, one at home, and the other??

Woo Hoo, Luna-Tic Team Mate Richard Miller - C2's Member of the Day!

My grandson is much bigger now and I do not know if I want to try carrying him around like that anymore. When we baby sit it is quite the workout. Two and a half now and he is like a tornado ripping through the house. At the end of the day we are both exhausted but can't wait to do it again.
