AJ, that is a great drawing of Moose. And thanks so much for the quotes of his you posted. It is hard to believe it has been 3 months- it seems like just a few days ago, and it seems like years ago all at the same time.

Nice name choice, Cathy.

Congratulations on all the recent achievements, and I read with great interest the background on the Idita-Walk.

Amazing weather we are having around the world at the moment, plenty of snow in the Northern Hemisphere, floods and cyclones in Australia. Cyclone Yasi was amazing, biggest we’ve seen, and it affected my home town in North Queensland (Townsville) all friends and relatives are safe though.....

And must confess, always happy to push myself, but the heat and humidity in Sydney this past few days has seen me retreat back to bed in the morning after checking temperatures.

Apparently some cooler weather coming our way on Sunday! Good weekend to all wherever you are and row strong!

Cheers, BBB

The Bunny Trails of the Mind:

Yes, AJ has sent me down yet another bunny trail of the mind on this day, but Danno started it. You know those tests, and kids' games, that have you look at picture A and then at picture B and find the differences? These are the sorts of things that are supposed to help determine brain age, keep you sharp, or just make you crazy when you can't figure it out. Look at AJ's canoes for today, and see if you can spot where he's made a few design refinements. Deciding whether it was canoe refinement or canoe evolution was a whole 'nother bunny trail...the ocean-going kayaks are canoe evolution I think...

We're on the cusp of 93 Million Team Meters....!

Hooyah! We've just passed the 93 million TEAM meter milestone! Whoop! Whoop!

Seemed such a waste of good canoes not to continue to use them! :D Of course, I should have suspected a refinement was in the works...

Call to action

Post by Kona2 » February 4th, 2011, 8:48 pm

Image

We've shown that collectively we can make a lot of good things happen, row a lotta meters, and watch out for each other in virtual team kinds of ways. Our teammate Ray was injured seriously in a training accident yesterday - and he is going to need all our positive thoughts to help him. No details known at this time, just a request from his family to pray for him and for them.

Did we come in THIRD after all in the VTC ??!!

Post by Kona2 » February 5th, 2011, 10:01 am

Could've sworn that there was an official write up on the Virtual Challenge yesterday that showed we were in fourth place....yet clicking on Virtual Team Standings gave a different result? Out of sheer habit, checked the standings this AM. I thought at first that our meters were still being added to the mix, but that does not appear to be true. What say you....real or artifact?!

1 Age Without Limits Virtual Club 58,280,948 296 196,895
2 THE ANCIENTS Virtual Club 25,144,384 50 502,888
3 LUNA-TICS Virtual Club 22,926,313 102 224,768
4 Free Spirits Virtual Club 22,901,127 160 143,132
5 HAVK Mladost Rowing Club 21,822,400 141 154,769

Yep, just checked on the final 2011 stats - and it shows us with less meters and in fourth. However, if you click on the 2011 standings link just above the Final Stats 2011...you get the above. Ah, wishful thinking.

1.Age Without Limits–58,270,846
2.THE ANCIENTS–25,144,384
3.Free Spirits–22,889,079
4.LUNA-TICS–22,751,313

Jan, I just sent an inquiry into this to C2. They usually respond pretty quick, but since it is the weekend we might not have an answer until Monday.

And for clarification, has a shifting in the team roster post-challenge resulted in a "location-in-space" shift for us?

Thanks for posting news of Ray. Keeping him and his family in prayer. Let us know as soon as you hear an update!

Jan, I've been thinking about Ray and saying little prayers for him since reading your post last night.

Thanks for keeping us informed.
