AJ is the one to thank for all these fancy canoe graphics! It's a great hat! Perfect! In fact, where possible, AJ's done a fabulous job creating all of our cartoon selves!

Nice hat there, Mitch!

And Tim just logged that extra 150 meters needed for his canoe so he doesn't miss out on the roll-call tomorrow. :D

Hats in the belfry ! The Fedora is ON THE MOVE in that canoe! Is it a classic wool fedora or fur felt for those Idaho winters?! Btw, Hats In The Belfry is a fedora web store...thought Tim's current hat looked most like the Goorin' Nite Flight...

Just to let everyone know, I assemble the ArMOONda to support Jan. I'll be doing it as of midnight PST tonight. Here is how the canoes shape up right now:

CANOE Number: Rowers

1: Jay, Ray
2: Cathie, Jerry, Chip, Luke
3: Will, Ron, Chris, Robyn
4: Mike, Bart, A J, Pat
5: Johnny, Katerina, Kristine, Kenneth
6: David A, Barry, Jennifer, Terri
7: Kenny, Jan, Rodrigo, Laura
8: Karyn, Ted, Mitch, Jackson (Mario!)
9: George, Peter, Tristan, Dalton
10: Kevin, Danno. Steven, Heather
11: Andrea, Ashlee, Jonny, Anthony
12: Ben, Kaylee, Rick, Scott
13: David T, Jim, Doug, Babara
14: Ethan, Ross, Greg, Robert
15: Mike, Tom, Tim

Junior rowers are ranked based on their percentage to their next level (i.e., Jackson is 94% of the way to his paddle so he is ranked above anyone less than 94% toward their paddle) B)

You have a little less than 5 hours if you want to add meters to change your seat in the canoes :D

I did a little spreadsheet analysis this morning and here's what I found:
1. Free Spirits, Lunatics, & The Ancients are in a virtual three way tie for a 2nd place finish (with 7 days left)
2. Average team meters per day: Free Spirits - 708,167; Lunatics - 697,865; The Ancients - 694,454
3. Average meters per day per rower: Free Spirits - 4,426; Lunatics - 6,842; The Ancients - 13,889
4. Projected finish at current daily rates: Free spirits - 22,661,358; Lunatics - 22,589,238; The Ancients - 22,565,362
5. Total additional meters required for Lunatics to overtake Free Spirits by Jan 31st: 72,120
6. Additional meters per Lunatic rower to attain #5: 707
7. Additional meters per Lunatic rower per day to attain #5: 101

But we have to assume that the other team is going to push harder these last seven days, just like we are.
So...I suggest that each Lunatic rower do two things:
1. Figure your average meters per day since Jan 1st (your total meters since Jan 1 divided by 24)
2. Add at least an additional 1,000 daily meters to that average for the last seven days of rowing.

If all of us do this, WE CAN WIN 2nd place (unless the Free Spirits add more to their averages than we do)

Another Canoe! Hooyah!

Post by Kona2 » January 25th, 2011, 10:16 am

Wowzer, mates - another Luna climbs into her canoe! Quite inspiring to see everyone pulling so hard - second place is a great goal, and we can't get there without that bit of extra umphf (often noted to be the same sound one makes when climbing into a canoe)!

So, while the Song of Hiawatha keeps rolling in the background, we have cause for another celebration!

Hello fellow team members. I have to go for training the next 2 weeks (helicopter rescues) I wanted to finish the challenge strong but I will have no time to row with the added PT I will be doing. And I will be away from my baby and wife for 2 full weeks. The rowing I have been doing has kept me in excellent shape and I am actually 5 pounds lighter than when I left the Army. I will be back strong. Go Luna-Tics!

I'd say that million meter plus contribution is a really strong finish to this challenge! Good luck with the reserves training time - and may your two weeks go by quickly! And thanks for the posting!

It's Tuesday...and that means presentation of the ArMOONDa! And a fine fleet it is! As Ross points out, we are in a dead heat with two other teams...and we each influence the outcome! Be prepared that there are ALWAYs some meter hoarders lurking - but we can't control that. We can only row the race that we'd like to compete in.
