Hi all. I wanted to row in the CTC, so I jumped onboard with the Flyers. Hope you don't mind. Looking forward to the monthly challenges.

Thanks guys. I posted my entry up earlier this weekend and looked at a few of the previous months. Still early for this month but it seems in the previous months females are usually in short supply.

Yes, ladies are rare and valuable gems in the CTC. Somehow most tend to participate toward the end of the month as far as I've seen.
My GF was a little taken aback by the 5k this month, but she's started practicing so I expect her to post a time within the next week.

Yes the 5k is a bit daunting for some Ivan - my GF is a non starter too unfortunately (and we have been married for nearly 40 years)
Two more "old guys" though at the gym tonite to add to the collection - both liked the idea of the bob memorial. Both around 2:00 pace

Did a 1k warm up before the challenge, it felt a lot easier when I got into it and held a better cadence.
I also set the pace boat at 1m 54 and only managed to hunt it down in the last 350 metres.

Nice job dropping time there, Allan. I may try and follow your lead later this week, but I'll be very happy with only a fraction of your improvement.

Looks like we have a few boats floating now.

Nice work Al and three boats now - Dragana had a change of heart - well done indeed.
Terry and I will do it again next week.

Thanks guys, I was very pleased with yesterdays improvement. Ive been doing 5k most days so not such a big change, just upping the intensity. The 1k warm up helps for me.

I improved my time by a few seconds yesterday on the CTC but it didn't move me up any spots. A personal victory nonetheless!!!

Good job, Chris. We are all racing ourselves anyways. Keep plugging away.

Allan, slowly whittling that time down. Nice. I took a page out of your book and did a longer warmup than previously (1.5k with 2 power 10s). Was able to get more out of my second attempt than I thought I could. I was out of gas towards the end and only able to push the last ~300m instead of more. I don't think my schedule is going to let me improve on this one any more. 20:40.2
