Woohoo, Barbara! How amazing is it that you have just completed the first 100,000 m of the holiday challenge -- following two surgeries! Your reindeer, Starbuck, is free to join the Luna herd for sleigh duty!

We've had some specific requests for reindeer names. Of course, this kind of started with the Comet straw...you've all been grand sports! How timely to see the book below in the kid's section of a local bookstore today....it was meant to be!

Hope you had a great birthday and celebrated in style ... shaking those flashing antlers all around Sydneyside ... most likely raised quite a few eyebrows. Have a great year, Dancer.

I had a great birthday...actually went to Canberra for the weekend with Janet & TomO, hence no rowing (but a couple of Stouts  )

Image 12 days to row! You can do it !
11 if you're on the Aussie side of the IDL....

Welcome back, Bill L, for the 2011 Rowing Season! Always great to see returning team members!

Lots of personal milestones being celebrated as 27 team members have rowed enough individual meters to be listed on Holiday Challenge Honor Board - and have raised some significant Concept2 charity dollars (gives a whole new meaning to a $10 donation!). This week should bring many more milestones to cheer about! For some, just being able to get back to gently rowing after an injury is a biggie ! Take your time, heal well - we want you to enjoy rowing for your lifetime!

Season meters as of 226/365 = 52,452,312 m

Total meters on the day = 215,730 m

Sometimes the best thing to do is the simplest. Welcome, new teammates, for as long as you want to stay. The journey to the moon is a long one, and it's great to have company.

I never would have done it without the encouragement from my teamates. I am humbled when I look at the accomplishments of Baz, Will S, Minne...etc - you guys are something else :!: :!: :!: .
2.5 M K2 :? Well, maybe. I try to keep my expectations reasonalble. My next goal is to try to get into the 5000m per day range and, of course, give my best effort in the upcoming Team Challenge :!:
I don't want to get all sappy or anything, but being part of this team has meant a great deal to me. It helped to pull me out of a real "funk" when I had to give up running. I'll probably never have the pleasure of meeting any of you in person, but I feel like I am part of a "special community", being part of this team.

Thanks for your kind comments......and I must say it has been a bit of a slug on different days. But it got me thinking about achievements and how we measure them and what do they really mean.

It is easy to look at the numbers and use them as a guide for achievement but the numbers become almost irrelevant, what is important is that we work to our best each and every time we exercise or row; some may cover a greater distance, and for others a lesser distance may have been a much harder workout, even getting on the rower might be an effort in itself. Some sessions will be better than others, and some you can only wish they’ll end, but what is really humbling is the effort that everyone puts in..........

Row like mad Lunies!
Cheers, BBB
